Airport’s Long-Term Parking and Self Check-In

Post by Mark

I haven’t flown out of the main Kuwait Airport for awhile so not sure how long it’s been like this, but the long-term parking lot is no longer a mess. They’ve got new private security firm running the lot now and they can’t be bullied into letting you in. So you no longer have cars parked all over the sides of the lot illegally, nor do you have cars parked on walkways. Last year the Civil Authority banned illegal parking and it seems like they had to hire a private security firm to maintain the discipline.

Since we’re on the subject of the airport, I spotted the self check-in kiosks above around the airport. Currently, they only work with Turkish Airlines, but I’m guessing eventually they will be compatible with more airlines. I always found it odd that we didn’t have self check-in counters at the airport, but better late than never.

Will every kiosk have an employee to press buttons for you?

The question is whether one will be able to find space in the parking lot.

I just park outside whenever its full and wait for a car to leave. WHen a car leaves they remove the blockade and let me in which is what happened this morning. Didn’t wait long maybe 10 or 15 mins for a car to leave. Thats why i tend to get to the airport 3 hours early.

Good effort to bring discipline to the parking lot but what’s really needed is about three times more space in long-term parking. The bullying, pavement parking etc would automatically disappear.

  5. I’m looking forward to the self check-in counters!

Jazeera has had self check in terminals for years…

Kuwait Airways (the wonderfully managed airline we all know and love) offers online checkin but you can’t print your boarding pass because airport management (Civil Aviation) won’t accept it!! So you then have to go stand in line to get a real boarding pass, with no separate queue for online checkin or at least for people traveling with hand luggage!
