Kuwait Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Brussels

A Kuwait Airways plane carrying 200 people made an emergency landing at Brussels airport Monday after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit, Belgian news reports said.

The plane, an Airbus 300, was en route to London from Kuwait when the pilot asked for clearance to land, the reports said, citing airport spokeswoman Florence Muls.

“The landing proceeded without incident and all passengers disembarked safely,” Muls said. “Safety services are now examining the aircraft” to see if they can discover where the smoke came from, she added. [Source]

Good thing they’re getting new planes end of the year.

Last year, I flew to Kuala Lumpur non-stop and nothing happened (the flight was safe and secure.) Emergency landing happens with other airlines as well and not just Kuwait Airways, so not sure why you had to post something like this on 248am?

Although it’s a forum specialized to inform us about Kuwait news, Kuwait airways’ fleet is so old, they need to buy a new planes asap. I mean they still use the A300? Come on man, there are only a few airlines around the world who still uses it and even they use it for transporting freight.

Breaking News: Although the origin of the smoke still could not be located, several cigarette buds and a lighter were found under the pilot’s seat.

Pilots smoking in the cockpit is more common than you think, that’s never caused an emergency landing though.

i have made a booking for me and my whole family (6 plus 2 children) in september on kuwait airways, last time i tried kuwait airways was around 20 years ago and it was good so my friends told me that i’m going to be in the same plane i was on 20 years ago without any service nor cleaning!
everyone been wishing me luck to stay alive and now this breaking news, nice!
i feel guilty and afraid lol.

Lol… Don’t worry, it’s not like the majority of flights are having issues :p
People tend to focus on the negative more than the positive 😉

National airlines are a reflection of that country’s government. Government is responsible for ensuring that their national carriers reflect their job performance level in the national arena. When a national carrier flies into a country, it reflects the status of that country’s government. If a national carrier is operating in a run-down condition with numerious maintenance mishaps, so is that country’s government. To tarnish the reputation of a nation, for whatever reason they deem appropriate, only relects their reputations and makes fools of its citizens and nation abroad.

As an air traffic controller at Kuwait International Airport I can say that most of the urgency and emergency situations that I have controlled in the period of 10 years were related to Kuwait Airways. Their pilots are some of the best in the world (Although some of them are arrogant) but their airplanes are some pieces of junk. The newest airplane was delivered to Kuwait in the 90’s that’s more 15 years ago :s

Anyone travelling these days in/out of Kuwait have noticed how the movements of the flights are not as fast and expeditious as before??? Just wanted to check something
