The Kuwait Airport duty free has been under construction for awhile now but I noticed they’ve now partially opened parts of it. The new revamped Duty Free looks a lot better and fancier than the older one, but the rest of the airport still looks like crap.

and they sell crap as well.
Are they selling anything new? Do they have a new book section?
It’s still only partially opened, there’s still lots of construction work taking place
They should have a separate Duty Free for Departures and allow BOOZE there.
Whats the point in buying booze on your way out?
At the moment one can only buy booze in all flights except Kuwait Airways. If they allow it in Departures’ Duty Free well ……
Just buy booze when u land in the other country
Duh, didn’t think of that. Thanks, you’re so smart.
Just saying it serves no purpose to have alcohol in the duty free just for departures.
Why not?
1) It’s not to be drunk in Kuwait, it’s to take out with you to your destination.
2) It’s more revenue for Kuwait.
Just saying, it’s like in Qatar; booze only in Departure section of Duty Free not in Arrival.
And they can check your destination, if your destination is not a GCC country don’t sell it, if you are travelling elsewhere, sell it. SIMPLE.
* If your destination is not a GCC country = If your destination IS a GCC country, don’t sell it.
Probably sell, what was confisticated on the way in and sell it at cheaper rates than international price to get rid of it, instead of putting them under a dozer or getting pilfered thru back channels.
*rest of the airport still looks crap.
FTFY.
Your face looks like crap.
It’s part of the contract. The previous duty free concession ended and the same group won the tender for another five years. As part of the contract they have to remodel/renovate.
The crazy thing is that the winning bid was for a KD 7.77 million per year offer. In other words, World Duty Free Group / That Es-Salasil are going to pay 7.77 million KD to operate the Duty Free!
I am just glad they got rid of the flaky yellow. Good riddance.
Am hoping they are able to create a niche for the Kuwaiti corner selling Sedu items etc.
