I finally had some free time today so I got to do some sight seeing. I went and saw the Pyramids and to be honest I was expecting them to be bigger. I don’t know why this keeps happening with me but I had the same reaction when I saw the Eiffel Tower. The Pyramids of course are much more impressive than the Eiffel tower. The Sphinx is really tiny which was a shock but overall it felt pretty cool seeing the Pyramids live. There were lots of tourists of course but the area is huge so they aren’t really bothersome.
One thing I am regretting is the fact I only brought one lens with my camera, my 50mm. Its simply not wide enough for landscape photography and I regret not getting another wider lens with me. Oh well not much I can do about it now…

You definitely needed a wide lens. I’ll trade you mine. lol.
thought I’d add some humour to your blog mark, even though it maybe childish;
you said.. “I expected them to be bigger,, I dont know why this keeps happening to me”… LOL that’s what she said….
Ok, I admit that I have nothing better do to.
Mark,
The real landmarks look smaller to you because your mental image of them is based on graphics enhanced movies, or worse, computer games.
Just keep in mind how they were built and you’d appreciate it more.
Yeah, dude you have NO right to have your own opinion. How dare you? Seriously though, don’t miss out on 3asoola or 3asaliya or something along those terms. It’s egyptian candy made out of, you guessed it, 3asal, and it is deelish. Except… for some reason, it’s only sold at the really shoddy baqalas. Go figure. Anywhooo have fun!
P.S. Did you take that photo? It’s a nice angle.
I told you the sphinx was tiny! hahahaha
Please check out the nile river and see how “green” the water is!
But don’t drink from it, cuz there’s an egyptian saying which loosely translates to this “if you drink from the Nile, you’ll always come back for more”

lots of reading but very interesting,sorry u didn’t find it that impressive,i just think that its weird n fantastic that this civilization could build all these wonderful things that have endured till this day,while the rest of the world, especially the Western world were still scavenging around for food and living in mud and filth,they really were an amazing n interesting civilisation.On that website ,they say that the limestone that initially covered the pyramids could be seen from neighboring countries, this is how bright and sparkly they were, like a mirror i was told when i was there,mustve been amazing.What other monument is there that has stood the test of time like the Pyramids?when i went there i got this weird feeling, like i was in a place that was very special,goosebumpy in fact.i am very fortunate to have visited the pyramids and i would not hesitate to do so again!
huh???? You’re being really anal on the comments section, I think you need to give it a break.
very true about eiffel, its MUCH smaller than i thought
You should enter inside, that is THE ultimate pyramid tour.
