The video above is the most detailed tour of the new airport Terminal 2 so far. It was shot earlier this month and the engineer in the video takes us through all the different important areas of the airport showing the current status. According to the video the terminal is meant to be completed in August 2022 which I find hard to believe based on the progress shown. But, they do mention that although the airport construction is going at full force, due to covid some of their suppliers aren’t working at 100% and so that might end up causing delays.
In any case, right now I miss traveling so much that I don’t mind our old airport, so they can take their time with T2 as long as we get to fly out again soon from any of our airports. To stay posted on the progress of the airport you can follow @t2.engineers on instagram.

You’re welcome
i was kind of hoping that you were going to address the glaring discrimination in the fact that the airport is fully open for locals to fly in and out but closed to residents to fly in?
It’s not discriminatory, there a health crisis and the country needs to manage how many sick people it can take care of
If they’re not letting residents in because they can’t manage more sick people, why don’t they deport all of Kuwait’s residents out to make the crisis even more manageable? What will residents in transit who don’t have a place or family in the their home countries do? Kuwait was the only option they had and that’s been taken away from them.

Seems like other countries do this too?
Yes but the difference is Kuwait isn’t allowing residents in only citizens. Most developed countries allow citizens AND residents back but not foreigners (tourists, business travelers etc)
Thanks for clarifying, and back on topic it’s going to be an epic airport building when completed!
Any airport is gonna be epic after this pandemic lol
From what I heard it is unlikely the terminal will be operational until 2026. The main building construction should be complete end of 2022, but the surrounding infrastructure, aprons and runway will take a few more years!
And where did you hear that? I prefer slanderous gossip with sources.

This article states completion in Q2 2025, but due to the nature of extensions of time on projects in Kuwait, 2026 is a realistic figure for a project of this size. As the article states, the deadline for the airside project tender submissions has already been delayed by 3 months and is due to be awarded in May this year. Look into the scope of work for that tender.
I wonder if Air Force museum is still there.
