The Kuwaiti Breakfast Game

breakfast

Reyoog is a locally created breakfast game for the iPhone where the aim is to try and fulfill as many breakfast orders as you can in 3 minutes. The game is in Arabic without an option for English since the dialect is all in Kuwaiti. The game isn’t free, it costs 99 cents which might or might not be worth it for you. If you’re interested in downloading the game just look for “Reyoog” in the app store or click this [Link]

Are you serious! Rating a whopping 42% + for rate of obesity in Kuwait, I would strongly recommend NOT to encourage this game at all. Honestly, I haven’t checked it out, aside from the pic shown here, but it speaks volumes. Breakfast & all I saw were “fast food” like items. No wonder our country suffers from extreme unhealthy habits. Not cool!

To be fair, I took a closer look at the items and while I do see things like eggs & cheese, I still feel like this game just adds to the food craze here in Kuwait. As a mother, my heart burns for the small children who can barely walk straight because of the over bearing weight they carry. Obesity plagues all ages but as a child, you need a role model.
I’ve done a bit of research on obesity. Genetics play a role but lifestyle changes can assist in helping the situation. I see gyms…and I see McD’s side by side. I taught children who came in at 7:00am to school with a Sunkist & a processed sandwich.
Food is like a drug here….and in my personal opinion, having a game that further adds to this epidemic is a bummer. Have the game…but it’s breakfast, at least put some nutrition in it.

Hi Mai, I am the developer of this game. Thank you for your interesting perspective on the game.

The contents of this game are based on typical breakfast orders in an Arab breakfast joint (falafel, mishakkal, halloumi, etc.., plus some fictional menu items). It is a memory/fast action game, which I hope will provide some quick and funny entertainment.

LOL! Yes, that gives me an idea for the updates pipeline!

My next update by the way, will have”Expat Mode”, for English language speakers.

Hi Sami! My apologies if my comment was personally attacking. Honestly that wasn’t my intention. I know that my feelings were hit hard with this mainly due to the crisis Kuwait is facing with its obesity
epidemic & lack of interest for a much needed change. To create anything is genius so you aren’t to blame for the problem. I am an Arab myself and was raised eating the usual breakfast items like eggs & cheese. I am also in the advertising field and know first hand the mental affect reminders do. Just like flipping through a magazine that has a juicy burger plastered on the page….poking at the desire to have it. Nevertheless, do wish you success in what you do & again, my bad.๐Ÿ˜‡

Hi Mai. I was not offended at all. As a matter of fact, you started something that led to an idea on how to improve the game (in a sarcastic way), which I will release in a few weeks.

On the topic of healthy food, I love eggs and cheese, and bacon and sausages, and stuff dripping in butter, and burgers and french fries, and I think that “organic” is just a marketing word to make food expensive. I also think genetically engineered food is great, because it gives us crops that resists drought and pests and increased yields.

Children should eat hearty and tasty meals, and should not suffer from “healthy” food that tastes like paper. But they should also run around and play, which is the key for enjoying both food and health at the same time.

I also have normal BMI.

Thanks for your good luck wishes ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Sami. Not sure how I contributed, but for whatever it’s worth, you’re welcome!

You enjoy the good stuff & so do I!!

I don’t do organic. I do eggs, I don’t drink soy, I drink whole fat milk… grilled cheese, pb & j’s, steak n potatoes n the whole 9…. but at the same time, I keep busy to stay within normal range.

Right before I read the post about your game, I read an article which stated the scarey facts, obesity facts. Kuwait ranks number 1 amongst All Arabic countries.
Because of that, I voiced my opinion. An opinion which should have been worded better. Anyhoot, let it be & I will stay out of it. And a sincere best of luck with your updates. Afterall, your game didn’t cause the epidemic๐Ÿ˜Š
