Kuwait is the 40th best country in the world

I know being 40 isn’t like being #1 or in the top 10 or top 20 but it’s still an accomplishment since Kuwait according to Newsweek is the best Arab country in the world. The results were based on Education, Health, Quality of Life, Economic Dynamism and Political Environment. Kuwait came in 24th place for Quality of Life while it loss mostly in the Education category coming in 76th place. That’s not good news. Lebanon on the other hand didn’t even make the list! Now that’s embarrassing. [Link]

Our education isn’t that great, but in terms of study hours we should be ranked #1 ๐Ÿ˜› once you add our school hours + our private lessons hours. It will equal to infinity ๐Ÿ˜›

Something is not right at all, places like Bangladesh, Yemen, Zambia and Uganda (no offense intended) are on the list for world’s best countries but Lebanon isn’t? That list is Bull..

Nice to know Kuwait is on 40th position i played around on that website for around 15-20min and i am in a shock to find out that United States is on 11th position and Finland on 1st O_O .

@passingby- why are you so suprised that Israel is at 22nd. Did you expect that they be at the bottom of the table?
@lensman- Political environment is an internal thing.

This survey is based on the overall population of those countries.A person who’s well off but lives in one of the lower ranked countries will be happier than someone who lives in a trailer park in one the top ranked countries.@ lensman. If you look at how times parliament has been dissolved in Kuwait you’ll know why Israel has a better political environment.

also ppl being so stylish, open minded, generous nature and have a kind big heart (6aybeen)
at least this is what i think ๐Ÿ™‚

once the new development plan comes to action, kuwait will be doing some high numbers on these lists.

Am I way too optimistic here?

Kuwajt must be no.1 in the world. Not because it’s our country and we feel proud that ALLAHOM lak al7amd we r kuwaities only. No but which country On this earth has almost no taxes? Which country education and health are free? Which country give ur kid 50kd since day1 he born? Which country on this earth give 4000 kd for marriage? Which and which I’m really can’t count what Kuwait gave us. Again and again ALLAHOM lak al7amd we r kuwaities.

In my opinion, no taxes is not good.
I’m a firm believer of hard work, and those countries aren’t granting away money or a house whenever you want to get married, because they believe that you have to work to earn what you want.

Money isn’t everything, and if you’re not careful, it will be the cause of your downfall as well as your country’s, because you’ll just grow relying on the government to give you grants, house …etc, and you’ll just end up as a spoiled, unproductive citizen.

After spending almost 4 years in Kuwait, have to say I’m more than happy to be back in Finland… Which is btw ranked No. 1 ๐Ÿ˜€

To average kuwait: no buddy i said what i said cuz i travelled alot around the world. But im different that others i dont go for shopping i dont go to see the best places. I like to mix with ppl. Now let me give u an example when u goto spain look at the grave and how ppl are treating dead bodies. If u dont have ur our cemetary they either burn u or leave u. And is their cemetry looks like.? Its a conckret blocks in so many rows and columns they put the dead body and close it with cement in a hollow block like a drawer. Thats only an example. So say al7amd le ALLAH that u r kuwaiti

Quality of life? ha! That’s a joke. There is nothing to do here to except eat & shop, which both can leave you broke fast. Kuwait doesn’t take pride in their country with trash everywhere, hardly any greenery and the parks here are a joke…not to mention modern day slavery of foreign workers from 3rd world countries.

It’s so sad too because this country has so much potential and could be so beautiful.

u all hate the fact that ur not getting the best of kuwait , like we do

even for most of u it’s better than ur home country , if not why did you come here , to get less money and a bad life quality ??????

Khaled:

I guess some people are happy living on welfare. Good for you if you can get it.

What does the cemetery have to do with quality of life? I’m sure dead people have few things to complain about.

I think what Khaled was trying to do was to show how people are treated in other counties and brought Spain and how it treats its dead as an example.

However Khaled, keep in mind that different countries have different ways to treat their dead, and what might seem bad to you doesn’t necessarily mean the same to them.
Did one of the locals actually say that they’re disgusted from the way their dead are treated or was it your own opinion? Because that makes a big difference.
From the way you explained it, they way they bury their dead doesn’t seem bad at all, except for the cement part, why would they bury them in cement? Isn’t that more expensive, what happened to dirt and earth?

Anyways, that example was false, what you should have demonstrated was how the Spaniards treated their visitors, immigrants, their lifestyle, culture…etc.
I’ve read an article that some Spaniards are fighting for the ban of bull-fighting, for it’s cruelty, some cities/provinces have actually banned them already, but it’s still prominent in others. I didn’t read anything about demonstrations against how the dead are being treated.

In Canada, you will get into “Shit” if you display racist attitude, insult religions in public in any form…etc.
At a work place for example, if you call someone: “Hey Indian” or “Hey Pakistani”, you can actually get fired for that, racism is extremely prohibited, and if you want to be racist, you better keep it to yourself, in your own home. Even though there are racist people still, at least you don’t see them practicing that in public anymore.

There are certain things that aren’t OK, even if a lot of citizens practice it, racism is not a “culture” thing that is OK in some countries and not in others, it’s universally “Not OK”.

Even though some of those countries that are rated “top countries” have racist attitudes, especially towards immigrants, but whoever practices it in public, will be punished. At least I can say that for Canada.

That would be a more reasonable comparison.

As Mark pointed out, this ranking is based on: Education, Health, Quality of Life, Economic Dynamism and Political Environment.

Based solely on the above criteria, I would say yes, my life in Kuwait, as an expat, is perfect.

What Kuwait lacks is:
Cultural Events
Equal job opportunities
Greenery
Art
Music

I like everything in Kuwait because i am born here and this is the Best Country (i agree better than my home country) but i regret only 1 thing and that is the huge Racism between a Kuwaiti and an Indian! like myself i want to build a villa in Kuwait but i can’t because i need some Kuwaiti wasta even though i have Money! “I hate this difference in Kuwait” when a Kuwaiti can build a villa in India then why Cant a Indian build a villa in Kuwait? does any one have answer for that !!!

The sad thing is that Kuwait has everything to be in the top ten, unfortunately not enough people here care about quality of living or quality in general. One of the keys for that is a good education, but it looks like malls are more important than better schools here….

@Burhan
why are you shocked that Finland came in at #1 while the U.S at #11?? Scandinavian countries have always been at the top of the lists when it comes to education, healthcare, freedom of press, etc. etc..
P.S the U.S does not rank very well when it comes to these criteria, it has steadily been declining since the “golden ages” … it might have something to do with them overspending on their military budget, and bringing “freedom” to the world lol

@ burhan consider urself lucky if you have the money

the housing price is high enough without you guys allowed to buy, about 85 % aren’t able to buy with a loan from the government 70K ( house has to be approved and very clean) + a loan from the bank (70K max if u get like 2000 kd monthly) + a 40 K from ur own money, which you collect in like 15 years due to the high prices of everything.

That’s like 180 K , and there are no good or even approved houses by the government in that price range (so no 70 K)the best you get is a two story piece of badly built houses 375m2 to 400m2 max, one street, no good parking ( half of ur car is on the streets) and a far and probably bad residence area which has very small streets … etc

or wait 17-23 years for a gouvernment house in the middle of no where if ur kuwaiti , i’ll let you decide

@ ahmad

Price is not what matter’s to me i have enough money to built a Good 3 story villa ! my question is can a Indian built a villa without any Kuwaiti’s wasta ?

@ Ahmed
Well, at least u can get a house in Kuwait for KD 180K….In Bombay (No,its not Mumbai :P),India, u can barely get a 230sq.mtr appartment for that price…. Forget about parking and all the rest of that stuff…..
Given a chance,I agree with Burhan, I’d rather spend that money in Kuwait and buy a HOUSE!
Also, the Kuwaiti govt. gives u guys loans. Thats not even an option for the rest of us. . .

Are we seriously discussing what Kuwait lacks?

I believe the only people (or MOST) who are happy living in Kuwait are KUWAITIS. Kuwaitis are the only ones who truly benefit from the government’s welfare. Non-Kuwaitis (some who I know and have been living here since FOREVER) are treated inferior or looked down upon. Why? Simply because of their nationality. I have traveled the world and have never seen such treatment towards expats in other countries or societies. Kuwait needs to bring its ego down in that sense, or else it’s going to backfire on the whole society.

I completely agree with Nael. Much of the youth here do not understand the value and significance of money and hard work– mainly because most of them are given everything on a silver platter.

well consider ur self lucky as i said

and no you can’t because the new rules are being applied to force the prices to go down

if you let foreigners buy houses +land we will have the same situation as in dubia where no average person could buy a house because of the high prices ( in dubia only ) and that will happen to kuwait if they let everybody buy because the real estate is like the best investment you can ever imagine in kuwait , whatever happens you never lose you just gain less profit.

+ you only get the 70 K loan from the government if your house passes a series of tests , which in the 180 K price range most don’t
