Ice Skating at Marina Mall

A friend of mine told me they opened up a small ice skating rink in Marina Mall opposite Baskin Robbins in the food court. It didn’t make sense so I passed by Marina Mall earlier to check it out and to my astonishment there was a mini ice skating rink. There were three kids ice skating and I noticed a small stand on the side which rents out the skates. The place was very cold and the ice looked like ice but when I asked the employee there if it was indeed ice he told me it wasn’t. The floor was a wax like material that resembled ice and worked like ice. Didn’t know there was such a thing.

Ice-skating on wax doesn’t sound very appealing, why was the place cold though? To stop the wax from melting?

yeah i knew it’s wax , cause last Hala February they have put one outside at : Marina Crescent
cause ice skating hall was closed for February festivals

bearo yes i`v seen it at marina crescent, hmm before one month i guess n it was wax too but a bit bigger place than this, it seems that they`v changed their location..

If it’s the one near BR then it’s definitely not ice… I remember the guy spraying water on a normal floor :/

It uses a plastic polymer injected with oils, which get released when the blade heats up and melts the top layer of the polymer.
i personally felt it was like skating in slow motion.
