New Airport Groundbreaking Ceremony Underway

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kuwait Airport terminal is currently on the way as I type this post out. For those of you who have recently been to the Sheikh Saad terminal, you might have noticed the new road that diverts around the site of the new airport.

If you look at the location with Google Maps you can make out the triangle which will eventually become the new airport (check below for a visual overlap). The new airport is not only happening, but it’s expected to be completed by 2020!

It is still 6 years. The contractor requested that it gets reduced to 4years based on certain conditions which are yet to be agreed by the Government. Also just so you know the original 6 years is the time for completion of the project and then you’d need extra time to start operating it.

In one KTV video about the project there is a rendering of two of the triangular structure above facing each other. So, which is it, one or two?

No one actually expects it to be completed in 4 years, intact some people are actually sure that it’ll go up to 6 years.

I’m one of the Subcontractors there.

No matter how out of reach the plan may seem, please finish it in 4, we kinda really need it XD

I really don’t care for how quick it finishes I just want it done well not rushed so it lasts and won’t have any issues later on that would be a safety issue or another reason for business to avoid Kuwait.

The fact that it’s planned to finish in 2020 is not a good thing, knowing the corruption in major projects and how things work here, the last thing you want is an airport barely stitched together, can’t wait till it rains and we see all the leaks.
