Bazaar Magazine Knows Shit

bazaar

I just read a post on K The Kuwaiti’s blog about an article in Bazaar magazine on local bloggers. While the whole world is talking about bloggers and realizing their online importance, our local Bazaar magazine seems to think us bloggers don’t have a life and are just a bunch of loser hermits living at home. I guess that article basically summarizes the magazine’s naive mentality. I should blame the author of the article but I would rather blame the editor instead since he was the one who approved this crap. Maybe the Bazaar editor should try using the Internet one time and maybe check up on the definition of bloggers before he would agree to allowing a lame ass article like that get published. Oh well, it is Bazaar in the end so you can’t expect too much intelligence. [Link]

This is Mr. Impressive you are talking about!
He can’t do no wrong!

He is just annoyed that what he attempts to do in a month “Good Communication” (his column title) we do it on a daily basis.

Funny you mention the editor, here is what differentiates him from a blogger:

“Of course, when covering any type of print media pertaining to this country, it is inevitable we encounter the omnipresent “Kuwait-bashing” phenomenon. With magazines such as bazaar you have the safety net of an adept editor; someone who can ensure diversity of content and strive to maintain reader interest. Unfortunatley, online they have no such rules, nor professional incentives to maintain such standards.”

Undiscloced: There is a difference between give your opinion on a matter (journalistic integrity) and making derogatory comments about people.

PoliticalAsylum: The writer wanted to ridicule Bloggers so that we could talk about how much of a bad writer he is? Oh no! we fell into his trap… If was that really was his true intention … Bazaar just got a worse (which I thought was quite impossible at this point).

mark, for your information I am a regular reader of your blog and am always very impressed by it as I am by all of you guys!. I wish we had a tenth of the freedom you guys have in expressing yourselves. Moreover, just to clarify something to you,we dont edit writers and we dont pick and choose what we print and what we dont print depending on OUR point of view. We dont neccesarily agree with what our writers submit, but we do give them space to express themselves. Unfortunately, sometimes that means that some readers will definately not agree with something written. These views do NOT represent our point of view, and to prove it,have a look at all the positive articles on blogging and on bloggers we have had over the years.I strongly urge you to write a column regarding the article that came out with your views on the matter and I promise you it will get published in bazaar! best regards.

I do not agree that Bloggers are nerds, but I do think that what Bazaar did was right, because it is the freedom of speach. And if that pisses you off so much Mark, why do you bitch and complain about others all the time. We all read your blog and we do like it, but try to be grown up enough to take some criticism and turn it in to something. If there was not a hint of truth to it, you would not react so harsh… I guess all doze long days infront of the computer are getting to you.. you should do some outdoor sport other than walking your dog…and driving your bike.. And leave Bazaar alone , he is older than you by 10 years…

I think this blog post is written in poor taste.
Bazaar is an organization with editorial standards, writers and an important role to play in kuwait’s social outlook.

Running your own wordpress site with easy to use plugins can be done by my mom. Writing well written, edited articles on print and having a fan following is an entire different story.

Stop hating.
