Last weekend I decided to try and walk home from work. The distance was around 12KM and took me 2 hours and 20 minutes. Today I decided to try and beat the time and try to get home in 2 hours or less. So I ran, and ran and ran. I don’t think I’ve ever ran as much or as far as I did. It wasn’t non stop running since I’m not that fit but I ran a lot more than I walked. To my surprise, I managed to cover the exact same distance but this time in 1 hour and 39 minutes! Not bad for a guy who can barely make it on a treadmill for 30 minutes. The above time is todays run while the below time is from last week.

great job mark now lets see if u can beat 1 hour hehehehe if u want i can join you as my wife is forcing me to lose some weight ….. dont worry about my fitnees am more than good hehehehe
Since you’re not on an actual track I’m surprised to see that the distance covered in both cases are almost the same. π
@Matt, Mark is using the Nike+ GPS app, so the distance tracking is using GPS coordinates, so the distance will be very accurate.
Air resistance? :p
Wow.. that’s great! It is always harder the first time to walk that much.. It’ll become easier if you keep it up..
I love walking!
Intresting.. But what i see is the small def. In the cal. Which is not worth the effort of running all this distant! But if your goal is the time, good job π
@Ammar,
It is not just about the difference in calories. Higher intensity workout such as running kicks in something called the “after-burn”. Your body will be running at a higher metabolic rate for up to 48 hours after finishing the run.
Therefore the total number of calories burned over the next 48 hours will be much higher.
Hi Mark
Good work on the fitness. Can I ask where the stats come from? Is it a fancy pedometer?
Thanks
