The Kuwait National Planetarium is one of those things that not a lot of people know too much about. I personally like the planetarium for two reasons, the first is because it’s located in the Kuwait National Museum which is a must see. Most of the museum is closed because it was never repaired after the Iraqi invasion but even so I love going there and remembering how beautiful it was back in the 80’s. It also looks a bit creepy at night all burnt and abandoned which can also be nice in it’s little weird way. The second reason I like the planetarium is because it’s actually interesting and well taken care of. Since not a lot of people go there the place is in great shape and the tech is pretty up to date since it only got rebuilt around 10 years ago and just recently they installed a new projection system.
They’re open Monday to Saturday with morning and afternoon shows at the following timings:
Morning Shows
9:30 / 10:30 / 11:30 / 12:00
Afternoon Shows
5:00 / 5:45 / 6:30
No morning shows on Friday. Saturday mornings shows are at 9:30 and 10:30 only. Sundays they’re closed. For more information you can call them on 22451195 and 22456534 The entrance is free!

Mark, I would like to thank you so much for recommending such place. Today my son’s birthday, and I was wondering where to take him with all of his cousins. I saw your post last night and we went today morning. we attended 10:30 show and the children loved it (It was in Arabic) I noticed that the next show which was going to start at 11:30 is different than the one we saw, so we decided to see it as well, the second show was in English and it was more suitable for children and they loved it even more. So thank you again.
that’s pretty cool. Could you describe the show btw? Because I heard with the recent upgrade it’s more interactive or something like that.

The children loved it because it started as a cartoon show about two boys made a spaceship out of cartoons and they traveled to space. I think it was amazing.

2 days after reading it here, I brought my family last night to the planetarium and watched the 6:30 PM show. It was awesome! My 5 yrs. old son (Diego) was totally amazed and bugged me with questions continuously even after the show.
There were a few other families and a group of kids (maybe a field trip). A few of the kids cried, who probably got afraid when it became dark.
The sound system was great. You can even feel the reverberations.
By the way, the show was about the life cycle of a sun and how planets are created. It was in English (which I prefer, as a Filipino).
