Earlier this morning I was able to tour the new phase of Avenues, Phase 4. The Avenues extension is set to open on February 25th and so they invited the media today to walk around, explore and take photos.
Avenues Phase 4 includes expansions of existing districts like Prestige, Grand Avenue, and The Souk. But, they’ve also added new districts that include Arcadia, The Grand Plaza, The Forum, Electra and The Cinema, as well as a five-star and four-star hotel.
Phase 4 is HUGE, and its beautiful. They’ve basically taken the Grand Avenue indoor-but-looks-like-outdoor-look and built on it. It’s bright, airy and the main street is wide with lots of little alleyways that connect the various districts.
From what I saw there won’t be much open by February 25th other than a bunch of Alshaya brands, but it will still be a great space to wander about and explore.
If you want to check out more pictures of Phase 4 then check out my story on instagram. I’ve archived the story and so it should be up for some time. Check it out @mark248am
Update: I was just informed that February 25th is the target date but they’re still unsure if they’ll open by then. Also I uploaded a bunch of photos in hi-res which you can view [Here]

It’s “The Arcades”…..not Arcadia.
According to Avenues it’s Arcadia. This is taken from their press release:
General information about Phase 4:
Phase IV will be built over an a rea of 130.000 sq. m., with a total leasable area of 100,000 sq.m .. and it will include expansions of existing districts that have been highly popular with visitors, including Prestige, Grand Avenue and The Souk New districts with modern and diverse concepts will also be included to build on the shopping and entertainment experience. The new districts include Arcadia, The Grand Plaza, The Forum, Electra an d The Cinema, as well as a five star hotel and another four star hotel.
Mark….it’s the arcades. You obviously didn’t read the huge letters at the entrance of the district. Someone wasn’t paying attention during the tour…
I could care less if it’s called the arcades or Arcadia and I’m not sure why you’re strung up on this. I just copied and pasted from their press release but since it means so much to you then you could always get in touch with Avenues and find out what’s up with this…
Arcadia makes sense Arcade sounds dumb
*other than a bunch of Alshaya brands*
Avenues is owned by mabanee which is alshaya, so i would think it’s alshaya stores first that would be open 🙂
Beautiful interior! the dome one looks like a mall i was in vegas, (The Forum Shops at Caesars)
For the love of God and I address this mainly to Mabanee’s PR/Marketing, even though it’s too late and the damage to our vocabulary will take years to fix:
Stop calling them PHASE 1,2,3,4!!!
PHASE is a word used by contractors not by end users. The mall is called The Avenues and you missed a perfect and quite obvious branding opportunity when you neglected to call the various “phases” First Avenue, Second Avenue and so on!
Not too late to re-brand
please no, that would make things as confusing as their district called “The Mall”.
I agree with Zaydoun, phase is dry, construction terminology. Call it something more user-friendly like: Meet you at the entrance of “The Promenade” or see you near the fountain in “The Boulevard” or how about coffee at Starbucks in the Gardens? and so on. It doesn’t have to be these, but use your imagination.
That’s exactly how it is right now. Zaydoun was talking about the 4 phases of construction not the individual areas within.
Oh, OK. I thought they actually had signs inside the mall saying “Welcome to Phase 3, Proceed to Harvey Nichols.” I don’t go out much. LOL.
Thankfully they don’t actually say that in signage, but in all their press info as well as with their staff… they always say Phase
They need to stop saying it and stay on message!
Nice arabica is opening there too 👍🏻
OMG official Apple store coming to Kuwait.
No it is not
Mark – what is/is going to be inside the big nearly-spherical shaped sections that look like giant insect eyes?
don’t think anybody has leased it yet. meant for a restaurant i think.
They definitely look like something but not eyes
Look up macro fly
I’m more excited about the curved escalator 😀
Me too!
No thanks I’ll skip. 4phases built already but the developer has made no improvements to the entrances/exits, just imagine the traffic nightmare!
they didn’t improve the current ones but they did add new entrances and additional spots.
The entrances and exits are actually great and very smooth, unlike Dubai Mall which can be really confusing
I think the issue is the actual roads around Avenues, you can get in and out of Avenues easily but you’ll end up getting stuck in a shitload of traffic on the back roads.
One of the worst spots is if you exit from the Kidzania exit, you get stuck in traffic all the way from the exit to the next roundabout.
It was never like that before, not sure what changed recently to cause so much traffic on that strip. And, it’s only going to get worse once they open up the new entrances and exits for phase 4 on that strip.
saw from instagram account posting alot of constructions,
one of them to make new bridges next for avenues mall for
more entrance and exists to solve the traffic around avenues.
although its said that the plan will take 24 months (2 years)
to be finished. if you woul like i can send you the details on
instagram DM.
Looks amazing! I still show visitors to Kuwait Grand Avenue + Prestige + Souk when they come, even if we don’t spend time shopping or eating there. It’s just an impressive building.
(It has also ruined all malls for me forever, even the ones in Dubai are ugly and cramped by comparison)
ditto..exact same for me!
I just hope they bring stores like Jarir or Ace Hardware
