I heard a lot of complaints about traffic at the end of the 1st Ring Road since it ends at a traffic light but honestly I’ve been taking it every morning to work and I have yet to face any traffic issues. The new extension has actually cut down my morning trip by 5 to 10 minutes so I guess people who’ve been complaining about major traffic are facing it at a different timing than mine. [YouTube]

you need to put in mind that people love to complain specially in Kuwait.
Yeah it’s practically empty, especially after work. I leave at 5, take the U-Turn at the Palace of Justice, then all the way down to road 40 in like 4 minutes.
I must say it’s helped me out big time.
The traffic is on the street that goes from the Jahra round about going towards the first ring road. And instead of this street/road merging onto the first ring, it instead goes to a traffic light on top of bridge. This is where traffic backs up all the way to the circle, as people have to wait 10-12 minutes to go on to the high way.
Ofcourse, all thanks goes to the geniuses who some how got their civil engineering degrees and managed to screw up an important part of the outer city.
Agree with Jasim, i work in AlSahab Tower (Salhiya) and used to take the 1st ring road to Jahra roundabout, now i need to suffer from waiting in the 50th exit traffic light to go to Jahra roundabout. Also in the first time i tried the 1st ring road extension (i had no clue that it will not send me to the roundabout since there is no signs) i had to wait for 15-20 min in the traffic light at the end of the road but yes it was in different timing since it was around 10:30 AM ( I assume you go work before that:) ). Honestly i don’t see a benefit actually they messed up the jahra roundabout area.

It is always like this. I get off work around
3-5pm every day and its always the same.
I don’t think anyone should be complaining and calling the engineers “geniuses” until the entire project is complete.

What time you go to work? 9:00 am ? its usually dark when I’m driving in the morning. traffic near Hawaly around 7:00 is the bottleneck. If I don’t leave home around 6:30 am I’d be late to work.
People in Kuwait have legitimate reasons to complain about traffic. we should stop subsidizing fuel, reconsider driving license procedures, and reinforce all laws (including traffic laws). Driving in Kuwait is risky and stressful.
I’ll tell you more about the geniuse engineers in kuwait. They build and layout roads for only present problems and needs, they dont look ahead 20-30 years down the line like the rest of the modern world.

I agree with Jassim, the merging of cars from the roundabout into the 1st ring road is a very crucial part which has been omitted in the design. Hence the long traffics.
There’s no traffic only if you dont need to exit at a traffic light. I used to hit zero traffic light on my way from Shuwaikh to the highways and back. Now i HAVE to wait at the traffic light when i leave Jahra roundabout road and want to get onto 1st ring. 15 Minute wait even though both roads are done and could easily merge!
Then on the way back there is no way to exit into Shuwaikh, SHamiya, Kaifan, etc. You either exit at airport road traffic light (15 minute wait) or go all the way to Gold souk and take gulf road (+15 minutes)
Sorry, but the design is absolutely ridiculous. All that work and we still have to wait at traffic lights for no reason??
Mark you’ve mentioned morning?!! what time?!! pls next time try this road at 7 am sharp ppl used to go at this time but in ur video shows that u r driving around 9 or 10 am which traffic not exist.

Just take the 50 towards the city and enter the 1st ring road and see for your self, any time you end up getting to a traffic light that turn you up another bridge with another very slow traffic light, one of the worst jams you can get, the rest of the 1st ring road is open but this entrance by the 50 is &*&^*
