Rumor: Chick-fil-A not coming to Kuwait

According to a source of mine I found out that Alshaya was trying to bring the very popular franchise Chick-fil-A to the region but the deal fell through. Supposedly one of the terms they couldn’t agree on was the fact that Chick-fil-A wanted to close on Sundays (they’re a very Christian company). Alshaya was trying to convince them to change that rule for the region but Chick-fil-A wasn’t backing down and the deal fell apart. It sucks but I like the fact Alshaya were trying to get the Chick-fil-A franchise.

Buiness and religion shouldnt mix? So it would be ok for someone do something that goes against their own belifs? Such ways will make people hypocrites to them selves and infront of others. Why would you want to allow and promote that?

That would be unfair for the employees anyway, why would they want to change their weekends to be Sundays off.

They’re bringing many franchises here in Kuwait, and the QUALITY IS SUCKS. They should focus on what they have. I wonder how they are thinking about expanding in brands.

I agree. Their restaurants are eye candy but the food quality is terrible. But shake shack looks like a shoe shop.

@abdou A shoe shop? Where are you from? What is nice about Shake Shack is the atmosphere, the fresh ingredients used and that you can see your food being prepared besides being from NYC.

Food and religion always mix. halal, kosher, food is a part of countless human rituals and traditions. And if religion is real in any sense of the word, then it affects everything in ones life not just a small part. So religious ethics comes into business. In fact if real religious ethics came into business Kuwait wouldn’t have half its problems today…

And he speaks for everyone? There’s one guy in the US that wanted to burn Qurans, did he highlight religious intolerance of the US to the world?

The Chicken wouldn’t be Halal anyway because they would probably refuse to supply Halal Chicken since they are so Hard Core Babtist etc. As for the church Ban , I think every country has the right to rule according to what their religion dictates. If the constitution of a country says that its a christian country and the Clergy says no to Masjids then that is their right . If they don’t want Hijab or Niqab then it’s their right . And in the case of a Muslim country , if Islam Doesn’t Allow Churches in the Arab Peninsula then so be it . We must Respect the laws of the country we live in .

our law and Islam allows religious freedom. stupid extremist terrorists dont allow it. thats the difference.

For the Record , Mais Alghanim DO NOT Close on SUNDAYS Mais Alghanim Close on NO DAYS . They Have a Sunday Special which is currently Roast Chicken w/Potatoes & Veg or Ouzi with Oriental Rice . Any restaurant that isn’t open 7 days a week isn’t making money .

If I’m not mistaken, the Early Bird closes on Sundays, and I think they’re profiting pretty darn well. So, um, yeah…

They’re a breakfast place though, most of their business is on weekends so they can’t afford to close on weekends.

Back when the weekends were Thu and Fri, Mais Alghanim used to close every Saturday for cleaning. Whether they still do it every Sunday i don’t know but even if they do, it has nothing to do with religion.

I have a big question. So if the franchises claim that they serve Halal chicken, who is to say that the chicken or beef that is imported is Halal? Does the ministry have continuous video coverage of the suppliers in the States to make sure that the right measures are taken? I know for a fact that if chick-fil-a were to open, they would have it in contract that their chicken be imported from their distibutor from the States. Buffalo’s (bone-in) chicken wings are imported from the States. Years ago, I knew that closing on Sunday’s would be the biggest issue about Chick-fil-a opening ihere in Kuwait. Your loss Al Ashaya!

There is a process to this through the diplomatic missions. They require from any supplier in the world to provide a stamp of approval from an Islamic organization/mission in the prospective country to state that the meat is Halal. So these Islamic organizations/missions are responsible to check and state whether it is Halal or Not !

Now the question is how assured are we and can you trust all these “stamp of approvals” on the “Halal” meat coming into our region ?

But there is a process 🙂

Companies are supposed to supply a Halal certificate from a Halal certification body that certifies that the supplier is Up to Halal standards. These are common in Australia , the US , Europe and Asia .

its not american its a jewish chain started in america no really thier ceo and founder is jewish like starbux

I’m glad its not coming to Kuwait … it would be a watered down version of the real thing … and I need to have something to look forward to when I go home 😛

Mark why is my post awaiting moderatin? all i said is that they are jew$$ ,,, not christain i didnt mean it in a biast way ,, they are ,, i know people in there

Cick-fil-A VS Kabab Al7eja

two religiously themed restaurants. Who will win when East meets West in the food court rumble to reign supreme as the ultimate gluten of faith…no pun intended!

Who cares?
We have a thousand and one better restaurants to choose from. One less fast food dump is no great loss.

Aref you get a thumbs up . I’m sick of imported restaurants and I’m sick of poor quality local restaurants. There are many great local home grown food concepts in Kuwait , and so many people know the difference. We don’t need more US franchises . Plus Food In the states wasn’t that great during the decade that I lived there .

I worked at Chick-fil-A for 4 years while in high school, in Georgia. Most of the employees would love to work on Sundays and they are not Christians. The General Managers who run the stores aren’t all Christians either. The founder and most of the corporate workers are Christians. Some of the Christians would like the restaurant open on Sundays, especially in an economy where every extra sell helps. Chick-fil-A is just showing that they will not back down from their original ideals. Not 1 single Chick-fil-A restaurant in America has ever been open on a Sunday, so why would they change that for Kuwait? It’s silly to think a company would change their values over money and seems typical of some Kuwaiti’s line of thinking (you can get anything for the right amount of money). Oh and by the way, Chick-fil-A is NOT overrated 😛 It is the best thing ever!

Given that they are strict Christians and they close the stores every Sunday i doubt they will accept coming to a Hayef and Tabtab riden country.
