Whale Shark stranded at Marina Crescent

I got an email from a reader telling me that last night while he was at Marina Crescent there was a Whale Shark around 3 meters in length and 2 meters wide stranded on the beach. There were 4 scuba divers with the shark and they tried to push him out to sea but the shark kept coming back. I am trying to get a hold of some pictures and once I do I will post them here.

I’ve previously posted about a whale shark that was caught in Kuwait
. Hopefully this one will end up getting saved.

Update: Al Rai has a lot of pictures like the one above which you can see [Here]

Update2: Al Watan daily has an English article which you can read [Here]

A few weeks ago my brother was in scuba diving class o that whale shark stopped by … there is a video on youtube of the class diving with the whale shark fish and he says he is as harmless as an ant and is actually vegeterian …indeed the divers didn’t look scared at all!

Maybe it’s the same whale shark roaming the area? hungry or something? Why is it announcing it’s appearance every now and then?

Why did it come as far as Marina Crescent? Looking for food? Trying to commit suicide in a place with a view? Reviving the tourism industry in the summer?!

This is becoming like UFO sightings. Has anyone confirmed the whaleshark? Or was this some sick joke?

We in New York recently had a 24 foot Basking Shark wash up on one of our Long Island beaches and it died shortly after (cause of death not yet known). Apparently both the Basking and Whale Sharks are vegetarians who usually hang out in warmer waters.

Mark it’s not in the beach! it’s right in front for costa the dock area where there is a crescent shape of the side walk! It’s not a joke guys. I went today as well at 3:30 pm and it was there! I got a call at 8 pm confirming that the whale shark is still there and the rescuing is going on!

I was there 2 nights ago and saw loads of people around the rails looking in the water. At first I thought they were looking at the regular fishes that swim there (and seem to have gotten larger now) but I was wondering why they were all amazed with fishes suddenly BUT thats when the whale shark swam out and oh what a sight! Beautiful, large whale shark. (at the time, I had no clue it was a whale shark. Everyone was calling it something… someone said it was a hamour!!!)
I passed by again yesterday and it was still there.

I took the kids to see it in (right in front of Costa in Marina Crescent) if you’re lucky and patient you will get a glimpse of this wonderful whale shark. It’s difficult to see clearly as the water is dirty and some yobs were throwing cigarettes and plastic water bottles in to the water to add to the pollution. Would have been nice to have seen someone official around watching out for the whale’s welfare.
