BETA – Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

I knew things were bad in Lebanon when it came to the treatment of animals but I didn’t think it was this bad. I just found out about BETA which is the Lebanese equivalent of Animal Friends except with a lot less resources. Just to give you an idea of how bad things are there, here are four links [Link], [Link], [Link] and [Link]

It’s a very sad state and BETA are trying their best but they need a lot of help. I know I have some readers who check this blog from Lebanon but this also applies to anyone in Kuwait that cares about animals and can help out financially. As little as $10 a month can make a difference, that’s just KD3! They also have an automated payment system which you can set to charge your credit card monthly which is what I did because its a lot more convenient. So please if you can help out even if its a little amount it would be really great. Here is the page with info on how you can help. [Link]

Thank you!

Babloa, animals are still creatures of God that need help. Neglecting animals can result in the spread of diseases. According to Islamic history, a woman went to hell for not feeding a cat. Instead of paying for a cup of Starbucks on a daily basis, buy three times a week and save the rest to donate.

As for the child part, animals can make children happy and scientifically proven that children with pets grow up to be happy humans with reduced mental hazard.

So divide your coffee purchase savings and donate to help children and pet.

I’ll donate myself as soon as I stitch the hole in my pocket.

Babloa:

That’s a horrible mindset. They’re two different issues, you shouldn’t compare. It’s like saying “who would I rather save, a child suffering from AIDS, or a child suffering from malnutrition?”

Babloa –

I just put up my first $20 –

$10 for me and $10 on your behalf. It’s one step at a time my friend. Open your heart, good things will come.

Hey Mark, are there any laws against cruelty towards animals in Kuwait? I see a lot of mistreated animals, especially dogs in kuwait.

I have heard that if person owns a dog and the neighbours complain to the police for whatever reason (noise, fear of dogs etc), the police will actually come and put the dog down. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the great post.

I don’t think there are any laws against animal cruelty but I don’t think police will come and put a dog down just because neighbors complain about barking. But i have heard of many cases were neighbors poison the dogs if they get annoyed or scared by them.

I don’t trust these things because I never know where exactly the money is going. For all I know they could be using it for buying more smack.

Why are you all castigating Babloa… he made a valid point! Kids are more important than animals! Or are they not?
Malnutrition, infanticide, foetuscide, child labor, war children, orphans, violated, raped, molested, abandoned kids need our help! Don’t look far; Iraq has plenty of them, Palestine has them, Yemen has them, for fucks sake Lebanon has them… Beta, Peta or whatever… please people start with kids! They are God’s own….

@Patrick: your example made no shit sense; mate.

@ babloa, styler and kyx

If you feel so strongly about the kids, then go ahead and donate money and food to them. No ones stopping u guys! They are not more or less important… they are totally separate issues.

@13
Charity or donation’s are never supposed to be revealed; it defeats the very ‘do good act’ if boasted that one has donated to causes. As such I would rather not comment on that.
Separate issues????? Exactly!!! Dogs seem to have more precedence over humans?? Or so I think is the case with you.
A human and a dog are involved in an accident and the dog is given preferential treatment than the human…I’m sure the human wont mind that… would he? Naah, I didnt think so either!

kyx I have no idea why you are turning this into Man Vs Dog but you’re being very lame and naive. There are hundreds and thousands of different organizations in the world, some dealing with humans, some with animals, some with wildlife, some with trees, some with dolphins, some with rocks, some with cars etc.. According to your mentality all organizations that have nothing to do with humans should be abolished. That’s being very stupid. Whats great about us humans is that we can care about more than one organization at the same time.

Stop being cheap and donate KD3.

Yeah Mark you tell em.. BETA is getting my 3 KD, I can do without the latte and danish this week.. Thanks Mark keep up the good fight. As they say all it takes is a ripple that starts a wave.

@ kyx

You scare me .. you sound like one of those guys who would enjoy a dog fight and actually put money down to see which one get hurt more.
There are differences betwen us humans and dogs. I agree but not much.. One of them is our ability to express our feelings. If we hurt we cry , bitch, moan, voice our pain. and wait for some one to do something about it. When a dog cries in pain he cant voice it. Dogs love their masters with an innocent love; with no strings attached just pure love. When humans do it they expect all sorts of shit in return.Did you know that dogs suffer all the same diseases that humams do?? Diabetes, Arthritis, Liver disease. Glaucoma ?? Only problem with them is that unlike you they cant walk into a hospital flash their Civil ID and get treated. Grow up man .. its 3 kd .. dont have to rob a bank to dish it out.

I would agree that more ppl seem to care about animals than humans in the middle east. thats why you have more organisations for animals than you do for humans in Kuwait. Any reader will lift a finger for an animal. not necessarily humans. THATS the wonderful thing about humans

I think Kyx’s broken finger was neglected in the clinich when a doctor took precedence over the German shepherd’s case šŸ˜€

krachi: I really wish people did care about animals as much as you think they do. There is a lot more animal abuse in the Middle East compared say to Europe so it would make sense if there were more animal organizations but there aren’t enough actually. There are only two organizations I am aware of in Kuwait for example, Animal Friends and PAWs and thats not a lot.
