A lot of you (like 99.9% of you) don’t like the sneakers I like and thats absolutely fine by me. But one thing I hope many of you will agree with me on is the fact that Foot Locker and Athletes Foot in Kuwait have the safest and dullest collection of sneakers imaginable. Walking into both those stores yesterday was depressing. After visiting my favorite sneaker stores in London like Size? and Offspring (Foot Patrol sadly closed down) Athletes Foot and Foot Locker both seemed dull, generic and PG rated.

My biggest regret from my London trip was not purchasing the Puma Disc Blaze sneakers. I can’t get them out of my head, kinda like Tara Reid’s boob at P. Diddy’s thirty-fifth birthday party. Its like driving by a car wreck, you don’t want to look but you really can’t help not looking and thats how those Puma’s were. On the bright side I did get the Adidas Oddity’s which I posted about in November.

I don’t mind the local stores selling safe sneakers for the mass, in the end they need to make money and they won’t be able to without catering to the large public. But how about a little corner for the people who want something more than just a white sneaker with 3 black stripes?

Anyway I took some pictures of various sneakers I saw at Offspring which I wanted to share with my readers below. As you can see colorful weird sneakers are something of the norm in London. Visiting a sneaker store in London will actually help you understand and appreciate the London 2012 Olympics logo.

The picture above is of the outside of my favorite Size? store which is located on Neal Street. Offspring’s most popular location probably is the one inside of Selfridges.

Finally got to see these sneakers live today at the Size? store here in London. I think they look pretty nice (90’s are in) but I don’t think any store in Kuwait would get them. They’re too weird for Kuwait. [Link]

These are some seriously funky Reeboks designed by John Maeda for women. They go on sale on March 31st and only 100 pairs will be available. They will only be available on the RBKcustom website. [Link]

Reebok have just released pictures of their Spring/Summer 2008 neon collection and I love their new color options. [Link]

These sneakers are called “What the dunk” and they are by Nike. They were originally released for $129 but now fetch over $1500 on ebay. If I paid $1500 for shoes I would wear them pretty often so the question here is how do you keep sneakers that cost $1500 from getting old and worn out? [Link]

I hate the sneakers that are available at Foot Locker and Athletes Foot here in Kuwait. In the past few years I don’t think I’ve even purchased any sneakers from here, I always ordered them from Amazon and other retailers online. Other than the fact that they don’t carry certain brands here, most of the retailers play it pretty safe and just get your average looking regular dull models. In the UK for example Foot Locker isn’t even counted as a trendy store for sneakers, Size?, Offspring and Foot Patrol for example all have better taste and carry funkier collections. Athletes Foot barely even exists outside of Kuwait!

One of my favorite TV shows is Entourage and one of the characters on the show is called Turtle who is a sneaker collector. That gave me the idea to also start my own sneaker collection. Its still really small but I only just started so it should grow a lot more in the coming year. You can check out some of my sneakers below.

I want these sneakers!! I saw them online for the first time yesterday and today I got some more info on them. Basically they will be sold exclusively at Offspring in the UK and thats it, no other place anywhere. Now the bigger problem is Offspring don’t have an online store just a stupid myspace page. The sneakers aren’t out yet but once they are I am sure I will figure out a way to get them. [Link]

I’ve been searching for new sneakers recently but was disappointed with my usual brand’s new collection. So, I decided to give Nike iD a shot. For those of you who don’t know what Nike iD is, its basically a website for Nike that allows you to choose from a collection of sneakers and then you could customize the colors anyway you want. I managed to create 2 sneakers (pictured above) which I liked but I couldn’t buy because it turns out they require a US visa card for payment. Hopefully once U Shop We Ship launch their virtual Visa card I will order them. The prices are very decent also, a pair of the sneakers above which are customized by me cost only $60. Try it out.
