Dogs Getting Stolen

Yesterday a friend of mine had her dog stolen in Messila. Her nanny was walking the dog around 8AM and two men in a white Honda Civic with a broken front bumper stopped and snatched her dog before speeding away. According to the nanny, there was another dog in the car, a pug and there were two guys. What’s scary is the fact that two weeks ago, the same white car with 2 guys and a girl stole another dog in Jabriya.

I think thieves are going after dogs since cops don’t seem to care and the dog owners tend to offer rewards but dogs are also pretty easy to sell at the moment. I had a friend whose dog got stolen a few weeks ago, through the help of social media he was able to find the person who had his dog. My friend then went to the police station for their help to get the dog back and they laughed him out of the station (He wasn’t an expat). In the end, he had to go confront the thief himself to get his dog back.

If you have a dog, be extra vigilant for the time being. Maybe get them a collar with a GPS device or at least have your contact info on their collar.

People who do not have pets or just don’t like animals will not have the emotional intelligence to understand the stress. Point in case the police they don’t care unless there is fire under their ass even by a Kuwaiti. We need as citizens and residence of Kuwait laws that punish such crimes. Personally speaking i rather not make the thieves go to jail or pay a fine.l rather they put in a cell get beat up by people or be in a room with dogs to use them as chew toys. Use them as a example only then will people think twice.

Perfectly said.

Also MICROCHIP your dog.
I pray these people get their dogs back safely and those thieves get caught and pay the price!

The problem with any form of capital crime is what happens when it is used under pretence you do not agree with. Assume your suggestion is enacted in law, how would you feel if all of a sudden you are faced with an alleged felony which you believe is either fabricated or misunderstood. Would you accept your suggestion of capital punishment or would you prefer your guaranteed safety whilst you await due process? Likewise, irrespective of the crime.

In short i would suggest a trial before punishment inflicted certainly. i am not a lawyer nor have i studied law extensively. However, if the law is being reinforced also punishment is live and real to the public they will behave.

Yup exact same story happened to a friend of mine too… that dog is probably gonna pop up on 4Sale or Friday market soon

more than likely it ends up there. the friday market animal section is a national stain that needs to be expunged.

I think it’s quite important to truly understand what circumstances and systems allow for a Friday Market to exist in the first place; it is detestable and I am not sanctioning such a market filled with animal cruelty, but rather understand that in most times – the merchants are trying to make a living for themselves, the people view animals as commodities, and the law doesn’t forbid them. Collective consciousness is too individualistic and self-centred to concern themselves with human lives, let alone animal lives; take the public response from covid-19 as an example.

Yes i can understand this is an income and business sure. However that doesn’t stop the shopkeepers from making the animal presentable, clean and being treated well. Especially if the shopkeeper knows the animal was stolen from a loving home why should they be allowed to continue to do business. Humans being cruel to each other is a choice we make ourselves among our society. Yet innocent animals living their lives and being uprooted by our selfish needs. Covid 19 or not animal cruelty shows the nature of an individual. There are plenty of responsible pet store ownership globally take a chapter from there.

Hm… I don’t think you have read the article properly. This has been happening to a lot of people. A lot of cases in Salmiya have come up also.

I called the second number.. an egyptian guy answered with no clue about what i was talking about. First number is correct.
