Oh my God I can’t believe how ugly Windows Vista is. I just found a page via SubZeroBlue that has screenshots of the new Windows Vista and I really have to say its even worse then I imagined. Some people have said that Vista borrowed some of the Mac’s interface but I don’t see it, can someone tell me what Microsoft borrowed because if there is anything this ugly on my Mac I can’t find it. Check out the screenshots yourself. [Link]

weeeeei3.. well, i have this software that makes my xp looks like mac 🙂 and i like it!
Screen Shots do not justify the look of the software, you gotta to wait for the release to check it out.
actually the screen shots are there to show off the look of the software.
Yeah some interfaces look yucky, but some look better than Windows XP at least, lol…
makes no difference to me, I always switch back to windows 2000 look.
yeah the classic look, i like that the best. I think Windows 2000 is the best Windows OS ever made.
I’ll have to agree with that. I said it then and still believe it now.
Mark have it your way, the interactivity in the software and transition are unprecedented, so whatever your opinin you still gotta wait to see the sotware dude!
Hellraiser, what you just said didn’t make any sense at all. Seems like you are just making up stuff by putting random words together. So far no Pro Windows Vista person in this disucssion (ie you and fadi) have provided us with a single thing that makes vista so cool. Give us the biggest advantage vista has over os x. Hit us with the best thing you have..
Strike One.
You preview the content of files without opening them as well as photos and folders.
And its so sweet, even Apple people want to add it.
Strike two.
You can sort your photos with their content without evening tagging them. Example, select all photos with sunset, Vista will graphically filter them and group them for you, beat that in Mac OS.
fadi, we can already preview content without opening files using spotlight.
secondly if finding photos of sunsets is a big thing in vista, then there really isnt any competition, Apple already won…
well congrats,
now you can keep using MAX and I keep on using Vista
One thing that piqued my interest is the image-based installation and upgrade procedure for Vista. (More details here)
From what it looks like, the entire windows installation will just be a sime .wim file and any hardware related files will sit on top of this hardware-independent image.
This has a *lot* of potential advantages:
– It will be really easy to reinstall the O/S (which, regretfully, still seems like it will be needed quite frequently). If they’ve got this right, reinstalling windows just means copying over the .wim file (all drivers etc. should work as is)
– configure an image and use it for installation on multiple PCs (replacing what Norton Ghost does for you currently)
and so forth.
Windows Vista will be a Revolution. to all the 10 ppl Using Mac’s that decided to get together and flame vista, take a break and have a good look at the upcoming features of Vista which is currently in its Beta stages.
I guess if you want to debate about which OS is better, you’ll have to use both. Clearly some of you haven’t used one or the other. After toying with Vista RC1, MS still hasn’t convinced me to upgrade from XP. After toying with OS X, that’s the way I’d want to go. Guess it’s natural if you’re in the media industry to prefer a mac over windows.
Btw, Vista’s image based install doesn’t feel like it lol. It takes just as long as a normal install of XP (give or take a few minutes). Heck restoring XP images only takes about 5 minutes for me… that’s less than 1/3rd the time vista takes to install.
All I see in this thread are Vista fanboys quoting features from the microsoft marketing team. Download Vista RC1 while it’s still public and form an informed opinion then get back on here.
