A lot more speed cameras being installed

Over the Eid holidays I noticed a lot of new speed cameras being installed all along the 5th and 6th Ring Road, the 30th and the 40th. Only the poles were in place and they were similar to the ones in the picture above so my guess is they’re installing more of the same cameras.

If they seriously want to stop speeders then they should consider installing cameras that calculate the average speed similar to the ones in Dubai. Right now everyone just slows down at the camera and speeds up again right after it.

Actually the answers are simple.

Make cars that are designed for the road. They have a top speed of 120-130 km/h. This is just the beginning of being practical.

Have useful and quick public transportation.

Have emergency lanes for trained drivers only to drive over the speed limit as emergency taxis.

Then people can speed over the limit.

But the problem is people don’t know how to live their lives. They like to have fun in ways that should not even happen, but have fun in other ways.

For example if people like to speed, then get a race car that is not legal for the road but race it on a race track. Also people can learn to build the cars they like to break by driving like morons with.

This is how a practical country runs itself. But the problem is with the perception if what is normal is not practical like having a sports car driven in the city… Should be country/ mountain area. And people should he able to follow health trends and reject impulsive trends that are dangerous and not practical.

Meanwhile a lot of idiots contribute to the commonly accepted habits by smoking, and buying sports cars to be driven on city roads. It’s morons like these we do not have practicality in our lives, and also because a lot of people don’t know how to live.

Like read a freaking book, do some exercise, not eat too much, work etc

Also a major benefit of using practical cars us lower emissions and making it a viable excuse to use electric cars.

I have no idea how you said the answer is simple then you wrote a paragraph of all that but anyway the problem in Kuwait is that people don’t drive within the speed limit, I don’t mean higher, but lower, if it’s 120, you drive 120, or less by 10 or 20 kmh, but people in here are stay at the left lane and drive below speed limit which is 120 then fucking decide to go to the right lane to take their turn, which cause people to break and hence a lot of traffic, left lane in Kuwait should only be to pass, but I guess since everyone likes to chill in the middle lane, I tend to take the furthest right lane to drive faster than the left one, plus speed isn’t the problem, slow drivers are, if you don’t drive close to the speed limit then you cause anger and frustration to some drivers as the roads aren’t yours to drive below speed limit, if you want to take the right lane and stick to it, I’ve drove in a lot of places and Kuwait is the worst by far, people turn on you without signalling and like it’s your fucking fault not to stop.

and pick cars are a problem too, why drive a Yukon if you are a single dude and mostly you are by yourself or with a friend, that extra space is just taking more of the road.

Where I live you actually have to drive at the speed limit, not slower or faster. So yes I think what’ your’e saying is the solution.

look, how many people who drive in kuwait have had any serious education and training in the skill and responsibility of handling a potentially deadly weapon in the wrong hands? You have people on the roads here who have come from villages in 3rd world countries to your stereotypical octonegarian. Standardization and implementation of driving regulations and rules must be enforced by related authorities.
With regards to dictating how fast a person can drive, i can see at least 2 solutions:
1. Kuwaiti customs does not allow any vehicle to enter the country without a speed governor which does not allow a vehicle to exceed eg. 130 kmh. You with the fancy car are just as fancy but are’nt as big a speed demon. Disabling speed regulator leads to prison as it would be assumed you are either racing or want to outrun the popo.
2. Any vehicle that is registered must have an MOI issued black box. Live tracking would, with instant fines for violatons being issued, would put a permanent stop to any driving violations. Maybe if people have a satisfactory performance for a years they are no longer live tracked but must still carry the black box.
Maybe these would reduce the number of speed related deaths. I dont really care if the speeder dies, he can fill his tank and crash into a wall at full speed, but my concern is for the law abiding driver who is taking his family out for dinner and dont make it because someone else likes the adrenaline rush.

In my opinion, you are entitled to privacy in your home for example, but when using public streets and highways which you dont own i dont think you are entitled to privacy. Do you?

I appreciate the value of privacy and understand your concerns, but with regards to the original question, would you speed if you knew you would be instantly fined or worse if you were being tracked?

The fact still remains that the people driving here and the people driving in Germany are completely different in their style of and attitude towards driving.

i agree, teach some patience, teach people that running people off the road doesnt get them home any faster.

start a highway patrol, make the cops work, I want a cop patrolling each 10 km of highway, pull over excessive speed, reckless driving etc

Simply the Ministry of Interior should install the cameras that calculate the average speed like Mark said.

This is one of the ways to teach people to drive slower. It takes time but at least most of the people will get used to driving slower at least on the roads that the cameras will be installed.

Very hard to change the way people think and live in Kuwait, it needs time.

Cameras in Dubai (specifically on SKZ Road) are equipped with average speed detection, but they are run the same way at they are in kuwait.
The reason people in general drive beter there is VERY strict driving test (No Wasta) and Very high speeding penalties – Fines and Black Points (DHS 600 for the first click of the day, DHS 800 for the second click, 1000 for third … it goes on)

More speed cameras? Why? No more scumbags with flash lighting hobby in this bigass pickup trucks? ๐Ÿ™ Common! I love this guys! It’s funny when they starting this brain f…ing flash lights when you are driving maximum allowed speed. I never changing line because of this scumbags, I’m just continue driving and watching their faces in mirror and enjoying when they getting angry and acting like crazy monkeys if somebody don’t give them way ๐Ÿ˜€

speed isnt taking seriously cause the cameras give you 20km leeway.. that increases the time needed to stop a vehicle, and well, need stricter laws and no more wasta regardless of who it is!

Just build a race track, and make it very popular.
Use phrases like “no speed limit” and “not allowing someone to pass you is good”.

I live in dubai, average time calculation is just a rumor. But the major difference is that in dubai there is a camera every 1 km. No one in dubai speeds because it is impossible to speed and then slow down in time not to get caught.

Let them invent cameras that click the assholes driving on the emergency lane just coz they can and they want to have a race with another asshole on the highway. Twice I have changed windshields cracked by flying gravel kicked up the assholes tearing down the emergency lanes just coz you didn’t get out of the way in time while they were bearing down on you flashing their lights!!!

Also these new cameras aint going to do shit other than coz more back logs and traffic jams on the highways. Now the so called safe motorists .aka. the crawlers..the one who drive at 80-90 in the far left lane will be driving even more slowly causing the gaps in the roads to drive properly within the given highway speed limits to be far and few in between.
