CityBus Airport Express

CityBus launched a new bus service that starts all the way in Fahaheel, passing
through Mangaf, Abu Halifa, Mahboula and Fintas before arriving at the final destination, the Kuwait airport. They’re calling it the X1 route and it costs just 500 fils to get to the airport from all the way in Fahaheel.

The service also runs 24/7 with a bus coming by every 30 minutes between 4AM to midnight and then every 60 minutes from midnight to 4AM. Not bad, and I’m guessing they’ll most likely be adding more routes to the airport to cover other areas as well. That’s a good initiative indeed.
We also need a reliable and affordable(to the masses)means of transport from the airport(Other than the public bus). The cabs allowed to pick the passengers up from the airport are way to expensive for the majority of people.

I think those countries where it costs a lot more have an acceptable minimum wage that takes in consideration the cost of living.

how much cheaper do you want the cabs to be? 50% less? Even if they were 80% less, a guy who makes KD60 is not going to pay KD2 or KD1 for a cab if he can pay 500fils for citybus or 250fils for KPTC and save money.

Paying 2KD or 1KD makes sense if you are not traveling alone. Generally speaking on other routes too.

That’s not the point. On an absolute scale, Kuwaiti taxis are cheaper, but relative to earnings, it’s more expensive. A taxi from the airport in the UK would be a minimum of 15KD, but plumbers and painters here earn more than professors.

Salaries in Kuwait are high and we don’t have taxes so relative to earnings the taxis in Kuwait are cheap.

For readers who haven’t experience taxis abroad, an example of how expensive cabs can be, a Taxi from Heathrow to central London is KD30

But you have choice of taking a subway or a bus, depending on your exigency. I pay 5KD from my place(Salmiya) to Airport, irrespective if I am traveling alone or with family.

yeah and you have that same choice in Kuwait I don’t understand what your point is. you can take the bus here, take a cab or have someone pick you up.

I will let someone else answer that for you instead of starting a debate. 5KD is to Airport, return can be absurd, 7-10-15KD depending on your time of arrival.

Some reply issue … not able to reply to your comment. We seem to be answering the same point but in different way. The initiative is good and I don’t mind waiting another 10-15 mins @ Airport to get a ride back home.

I’m sick of that statistic

“The average wage for a Plumber is £10.88 per hour. A skill in gas engineer is associated with high pay for this job.”

That’s about 20,000 GBP annually

https://www.netsalarycalculator.co.uk/20000-after-tax/

After tax about 16k GBP annually

In KD that’s about 600 KD a month. And it’s not like Kuwait where a van and a wrench makes you a plumber, you have to study and do an apprenticeship to get to that point.

I mean look at this:
“Advanced Level, aimed at those already with an NVQ level 2 qualification and practical experience (generally those that have completed the intermediate level apprenticeship), offering study of more advanced areas, helping the candidate to gain the more specialist skills required for career advancement in the construction and building industry. Leads to an NVQ level 3 Qualification in Plumbing and is considered to be equal to 2 A level passes.”

I bet the average UK plumber is better educated than some of my office colleagues here

Somehow, I don’t find any connection to your reply to any of the posts or topic itself. Maybe you were replying to Mark’s other post about cleaner’s

£11 per hour for a 40 hour week nets ~£23k. That’s without overtime and weekend/night shifts (double pay). And not all of it is declared for tax. Plus they have pensions from their employers etc etc.

If they’re self employed, they can net £100k+ easily.

If my sink is leaking, it would cost me £100 for a call-out for the plumber to tell me that there’s a leak in my sink. He then comes later and charges me £80/hour to fix it.

True.

I recently paid EUR 30 for a taxi from Madrid airport to the city center (about 20 mins away). This is a flat fee and is reduced to EUR 20 for places close to the airport.

However, there was also the option to take a metro costing about EUR 8/person which is the option I would take had I been travelling alone.

Coming in to Kuwait airport and paying KD 9 to go from the airport to Khaitan in a ‘limo’ seemed like I was being punished for not have 3 drivers and 5 house keepers available at my beck and call.

Kudos to CityBus for taking this initiative.

It’s definitely a good initiative from City Bus…

From the video , it feels like that the Luggage Space might not be enough as some of the expatriates who travel once in 2 Years or 3 Years have a lot of luggage…

Feel that they should start trips from Salmiya , Jahra and Ahmadi….

Can anyone give me a lift to Abu halifa from q8 airport please. Kd 9 or 5 , 1 and 2 way outta my budget.

Kuwait airport bus service is good for ordinary publics, but most important is please write the time table at every bus stop ,so public have setisfiy because publics don’t know which time bus passing at this bus stop and one time left bus must wait half an hour or one hour ,so after tired will searching others transport, so I hope they will take action immediately

The price of the airport bus went up for 100%. I mean, KD 1 is better than taxi drivers charge people, but still… 100%.

However, it’s a good initiative, just they need to educate those drivers to follow the traffic regulations, and not to drive the bus like they stole it.

And yeah, every time I use the airport bus it’s like an adventure. Never know which route the driver will decide to take. xD

Dears,
Thanks a lot for this information which is very valuable.
Does any one knows where is the X1 bus stop in Mahboula.

Thanks for your kind feedback,
Rgds,
