Fisker in Kuwait

A friend spotted the Fisker Karma hybrid electric vehicle in Kuwait. Not sure why anyone would want one here since gas is so cheap but my guess is it’s because it would be a very unique car to have in Kuwait.

There was one being sold on Q8showroom for around KD43,000 but not sure if its the same one.

Tesla Model S is much better than the Fisker Karma. At least Tesla is still open for business and making money, unlike Fisker.

I thought the very same thing when I saw a couple of Lexus IS200h driving around town. I guess it’s just for the exclusivity rather than gas conservation.

The design is awesome and so is the tech involved. Unfortunately , the company is bankrupt. I was shocked to know that the actual company cost [ since they halted production] is around $500 K dollars a piece.

I believe its a waste of money since your driving in kuwait, due to high risk of car accidents and speed bumps, and further the danger of damage on expensive cars are going to pay alot to fix, what do you expect showing off, anyways its his life and his money.

If he can afford to own and drive one I am sure he very like my also have a cheap ass pick up truck loaded with your garden variety camp site generator with a Bangladeshi driver on call just in case he does run dry. Any one remember any episode on Top Gear USA where the idiots where charging an electric car while it was running??

He would probably be like ..

Ya babu I am at Starbucks in Shaab; Karma is running a bit low on juice bring Hilda (Toyota Hilux Pick Up truck with loaded generator) and charge her while I have my Latte .. 🙂

You don’t know why someone would get an electric car here since gas is so cheap??? So we shouldn’t be worried about climate change/pollution because it’s cheaper for us just to drive gas guzzlers? Amazed that nobody else has commented/picked up on this yet.

Lala,
Kuwait does not have the following;
Hydel power station, Thermonuclear power plant, Solar Power stations.

You may be wondering how we get our electricity then? By burning natural resources like oil, gas, coal etc. Therefore we burn fuel and produce smoke, particulate matter and noxious gases in order to produce electricity.

If people were actually concerned about the environment we wouldn’t find offices with all the lights on at 10PM at night, people leaving the a/c s on for 3 months while on summer vacation and the most extravagant I’ve see is people actually lighting up their walls and boundary fences with high power spotlights 365 days a year.

No one pays for electricity in Kuwait as its so convenient to use vitamin ‘W’ and wipe away your bills every 4 or 5 years.

So going by that assumption, this guy is driving his car for free!

I’m not sure if you were trying to contradict or support what I said but I’m in agreement with what you’re saying. Anyway, I was just referring specifically to Mark’s comment “Not sure why anyone would want one here since gas is so cheap…”.

I understood your concern about the environment but I highly doubt that the person who bought the Fisker had that in mind.
Like I mentioned in my previous comment about the Lexus IS200h, its more about having a rare car in Kuwait than concern about saving the environment.

Mark this is not a Hybrid ! This car is “extended range electric
“, because the engine cannot propel the car, it is only used to produce electric power from the generator if u went low on charge.

Guys Electric cars are not emission free, they can be if u charge them with renewable power source or nuclear power.

Hybrids does not necessarily consume less fuel, but they can if u drive them properly.

I like these things because they are like toys for me, I like cars and I like electricity. So electric cars, and hybrids are exiting cars but I never bought one because they don’t make sense, even in Europe when I can get 4.5 l/100km from a 120 hp 1.4 petrol VW golf and get 6 l/100km from CT200h. the golf is cheaper, more stable, fun, much faster and can be equipment with everything u need. If like to go further just get blue motion golf which can average 3.2 l/100km of diesel and still faster than the CT200h.

The same applies for LS600h vs A8, 5 series vs GS400h, Q5 vs RX400h (all with similar performance) and the list goes on…
