Back in November the Ministry of Interior announced that cops were going to start removing the license plates of illegally parked cars. A month later I posted about how impressed I was that the cops were actually still actively remove car plates. Fast forward to today and the cops are still at it. New laws pop up all the time and most of them don’t stick around so its pretty damn impressive that cops are still going around removing car plates, even with the ridiculously hot August weather.

Yes because the police have a target and they get a commission of how times they give tickets to the drivers/cars.

Punishing Illegal and my legal car too. I got chased and got a ticket because the cop thought my car was loud. Funny thing is, i dont have a single modification on my car except the night ize mobile holder inside 🙂
It should be “still actively removing” and not “still actively remove”
I think it’s great they’re enforcing the law but I don’t think removing the plates is the best way to get it done. What if the person drives his car home and commits a crime or hits someone, he has an excuse for driving an vehicle that cannot be easily traced.

Yeah Mark is correct. The legal solution would be to call a tow truck to your home.
Most ignorant solution ever, you can’t issue tickets unless you provide a freaking alternative.
What about a modern metered parking? don’t you guys have contact-less pay with debit cards in Kuwait?
The alternative is you park legally. There are three large parking buildings in that area. The car above was parked illegally outside the parking building. People just don’t like to walk.
Not really. In a place where money isn’t an issue and people are lazy, this is an ingenious solution. Maybe it’s not the best or most efficient solution, but atleast now some people start to think twice before parking.
Before, the mentality was “its ok, I’ll probably be fined once a month and its 10KD. I think of it as a parking fee”
Metered parking will not work (and has not worked in the past) since we don’t have dedicated parking enforcement officers like alot of first world countries.
Certain banks do support NFC payments now, yeah; but there’s a lack of vendors that have upgraded their POS machines to support tap. (Again, since we don’t have parking enforcement officers, it would be difficult with the current enforcement to track all parking places if this was rolled out)
Good Stuff. Only thing we need is more enforcement. I still see alot of people parking illegally.

Wish they could just put tickets along with sms sent to the owner of the car. Payment within a week 50% off. Or regular fine will be charged during annual car re-registration. Less manpower. More effective. I bet government will earn more money to improve waste treatment and other public facilities.
