Serv – Car Storage Facility

Not sure why there is a sudden influx in car storage facilities in Kuwait, but it doesn’t really matter since the more facilities like this the more competitive their prices will have to be. Last week I posted about a new car storage facility called Curated, and now this is another brand new facility called Serv.

Serv is also located in Kuwait City, specifically in the basement of the multistory lot behind Behbehani Complex, in the block across the street from Arraya Tower. I dropped by last week to check it out and it was actually pretty cool. If The Vault is the gold standard for these facilities in Kuwait, Serv comes pretty close to offering nearly all of their services.

Other than the usual offerings like air-conditioned parking, 24h security, and power sockets all around to connect battery trickle chargers to, Serv also has a dedicated parking area for bikes, private garages of different sizes in case you don’t want to park next to other cars or need car privacy, and probably most importantly, Serv is also fully insured so in case something happens to your car it’s covered by their insurance. To top it off their parking lot also looks pretty cool design-wise and so the cars parked there also end up looking good.

When it comes to pricing it’s closer to Curated than it is to The Vault. At the time of publishing the prices at Serv are as follows:

Normal Parking
1 Month: KD95
3 Months: KD255
6 Months: KD450
12 Months: KD780

Boxes (Private Garages)
12 Months: KD1,380 and up depedning on box size

Bikes Parking
1 Month: KD40
3 Months: KD111
6 Months: KD210
12 Months: KD360

Why is there a need for a car storage facility? I mean when someone can afford a supercar they might as well have their car parked at their own house when they are away or whatever the reason maybe.

Probably because 99% of the people in Kuwait don’t have indoor parking. Keeping the car parked outside all summer in the heat, even if shaded isn’t very good for the car.

Also a lot of car guys have a bunch of cars, more than they have enough parking outside their homes. I personally have 3 with a 4th on the way, so imagine how many cars someone who likes cars and has a lot more money than me would have…

But have you ever noticed, in Kuwait they hate using car park garages. Double park, illegal park, on the side walk park, block another car park all right next to an empty parking garage. Look I saw P2 too and to be honest there are some creepy old parking garages downtown but I cannot figure out why people don’t use them.

YES! I told my friend the exact same thing a couple of weeks back. I was sitting passenger with him and he was looking for a place to park behind falafel sharaf in the city. We were in the tight pothole-ridden street behind Q Cafe and Sharaf, he was scouting the area for illegal/legal parking, nearly scraped his 50K car, then had to reverse back out of a one way street etc.. and I look at him and I’m like why don’t Kuwaitis like to park in multistories? He looked at me confused and was like what? I’m like dude just go park inside the lot! and I point right to the left of the car, we were literally driving in the side street and alleyway right outside the multistory lot looking for sketchy street parking and not once did he consider the fact he could just park inside the lot.
