The All-New 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Even though the local Mercedes is changing ownership starting January 1st, the current dealer is still getting new cars. The completely redesigned 2019 G-Class is now available in Kuwait and the prices are as follows:

2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G500 – from 43,000 KWD
2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G63 – from 55,000 KWD

They currently have one on display in their AMG showroom if you want to check it out in person, but their whole stock is currently sold and so they’re only taking preorders.

There is a gentleman at amg called ***REMOVED BY ADMIN*** who is amazing, good to talk to and let us take an amg to 160 in the tiny parking area. I hate the new system which plays recorded car sound, I want to get in a rev the car to hear the real deal. The current dealers deserve to lose it to someone else, honestly they are horrible.

I have a 1984 G that was bought from Al-Bisher and I am practically the second owner. There were many bought in the 80s & early 90s. You wouldn’t see them cruising in Salmiya or Salhiya back in the day but they were sold and used mostly off road. I saw another 80’s G for sale last week in salmiya in almost factory stock condition and originally from Al-Bisher as well.

There’s a white 1992 coupe that’s being sold by a dealership right beside Dickson House. Dunno if it’s the one Ahmad is talking about or not

The new G will sell like hot cake to all the Kim Kardashian wannabees in Kuwait and at the same time serve as a nice bonus for the current MB dealer before they hand over the agency to the new dealer early 2019.

I’m surprised there isn’t much of an outcry from the big fish that lost dealerships to change the laws and allow for multiple dealers. I guess they’re not big enough compared to whoever is taking over. Besides, didn’t the law the change a while go to stop monopolies? Or was that as usual a BS law.

I’ve been driving an electric car for about 4 months now. It’s not a fancy Tesla. ( Would have gotten the model 3 but they still aren’t selling the entry level one) and I can tell you this, if you are going to drop 40k KD on a car, get the model X. Way nicer car lots of room no gas and most importantly above all else, no maintenance. Not to mention that they are stupid fast.

Which electric car are you driving out of curiosity?

My issue with the Teslas is they look so boring. The new G Class has a beautiful interior, its a proper SUV you can actually take offroad and looks pretty good (although i prefer the exterior look of the previous gen). The Tesla, on the other hand, is all about the tech which obviously the G Class can’t compete with. Tesla is on a different level but I wish they were better looking.

I wanted the bolt but after doing research about all my options I picked the Ioniq because it’s the most efficient EV. Even more than Tesla. The bolt is faster though and can go further. But with less than half the battery of the bolt, the Ioniq can do more than half of the bolt does. Bolt does 400k on 60kw battery. Ioniq does 250 on 28kw battery.

But for kuwait, the only two EVs that would work are Tesla and the new kona EV because they have an active liquid cooled battery. Where my Ioniq is just air cooled. And doesn’t do well in temperatures above 45 degrees.

I’m driving the Hyundai Ioniq. Might switch to the Kona Ev soon. I know what you mean by being boring. Especially the model 3. But honestly owning an EV feels very practical. Don’t listen to the nonsense of saving the planet cuz EVs aren’t great for the environment. But other than that they’re cars that don’t break down and don’t cost an arm and a leg to fix. I’ve put 30k in 4 months and didn’t do any maintenance. Even the we service manual is a joke. Just beware of ev owners. It always feels like they are part of a cult :p
