The Ministry of Interior just launched an “Ideal Driver” campaign where up to 10 people will have a chance to win KD300. What is an ideal driver? According to the campaign page, an ideal driver is someone who hasn’t gotten any traffic violations over the last three years. I for one have received a number of violations so I can’t participate in this campaign but if you haven’t received any traffic violations head over to the campaign page and sign up for the draw. “Dubai: Motorists who had not committed traffic violations in any of the emirates, won a brand new car, bedroom furniture, a stay in a five star hotel and many other expensive gifts from Dubai Police.
Some 700 winners of the ‘white points’ campaign launched by Dubai Police to reward motorists who do not commit any violations, were announced yesterday at a press conference in Dubai.
Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Chief of Dubai Police Traffic Department, said that the winners include 303 female and 397 male drivers. The winners will receive an SMS from Dubai Police.”
Just to add it is next to impossible to find TEN drivers with no traffic violation in THREE years unless they had an active license with a parked car, or rich people who have their own driver accumulating the traffic violations instead on his license instead of the owners…..

I have had no traffic violation for over 5 years and I clock over 40.000 Klm a year on my car, I just know where there is cameras and were to park.
I have 3 parking tickets over the last 3 years, and all of them were issued in front of my office were it is allowed to park. Probably The officer wanted to issue the last ticket of his book to a random car every time.
this is retarded, at least incentivize us by starting the count now..

Personally I usually encourage rewarding programs over penalizing at any situation, but if the traffic department wanted to imitate a reward program, at least use the same conditions and not put three times the period of a normal program meanwhile having the policeforce on the hunt to catch parking violations to finish their fine booklet before the end of the month !
In this case,that three year period is too long to positively encourage motorists to drive and park legally ! That’s my 2 cents….
I know a very old man who received an award for not committing a single violation throughout his driving life. there was a very nice small ceremony at the ministry and everyone was happy for the old man.
the next day of receiving his award he had a car accident. the first in his whole life. heh

The idea of the campaign is good but seriously, only 100 … I mean only 10 get to win by MoI standards which has a lax work force, really !!!! Lets hope it gets better with time.
DAMN!!! i got my license back in 2009 and had no traffic violations until last week, some idiot near the Fire department on 4th ring road gave me 5KD ticket. i had clean sheet for almost 4 years now 🙁 i was like Floyd Mayweather in our family LOL
So that cop does hand out tickets, I always seem him there talking on the phone with a small notebook in his hand.
Oh sorry not ticket, he took my plate number and same thing happend with my father same day he was flying to europ lol they didnt let him fly lol they told him play that 5kd first. The cop guy is pain in the ass.

I haven’t had a ticket in the last decade. Helps that my old banger struggles to go over 80.
If you work for Saudi Aramco and you get a traffic violation, it goes on your employment record and it affects your appraisals – they are that safety conscious.
