Kuwait Blogs update coming soon

I’ve been meaning to update the Kuwait Blogs app for awhile now but due to the fact I do all the work on my iMac I haven’t been able to do so. My iMac had a problem with the screen and I sent it in to get repaired under warranty which took around a month to get done. I just finally picked up my iMac today so will most probably be working on an update for the app this weekend.

I’m aware that the current build of the app is unstable with iOS4.3 and it’s my priority fix. I already know whats wrong I just need to work on it. What I also want to do if I have time is update the blogs in the app. I can’t add any more apps since I’ve hit the limit, but I can swap out blogs that aren’t active anymore or aren’t as active as they used to be. So if you have any recommendation on what blog I should add to the app leave it as a comment below.

If you want to download the current app here is the [Link]

I thought about adding push service but because there are like 16 blogs and most that post regularly, I realized push would just be annoying and people would end up shutting it off.

i agree.

oh, and add danderma to the list. she updates her blog daily and adding an ‘ice cream icon’ to the list would be cool 🙂

Maybe it’s my 1st comment in urblog, but i really like ur posts and this app is AMAZING!!
I recommend meenakon, habatq8 and Rannouf blogs

You must have a really old version, the current version in the store doesn’t have some contrast and has trying to be fahad. Open the app store app and check under updates.

The current blogs are:
2:48AM
2:48PM
360 Dewan
4th Ring Road
Ansam
Banana Q8
Black Market
Buz Fairy
Buzberry
Confashions
Fereej
Frankom
High Street Q8
His & Hers
iLSul6ana
Me Blogging
P0ach
Tidbit Du Jour
Trying to be Fahad
Up Till One
zDistrict

Alexa isn’t an accurate judge of popularity plus you would need to check the blogs ranking one by one to determine what alexa thinks of them. This means if you don’t know of a blog you can’t check its ranking and so it doesn’t get on the list.

But in any case, there are blogs that aren’t in the top 20 that i think are more interesting then some blogs that are. This is why the app isn’t a top 10 best blogs in kuwait or a top 20, instead as the subtitle clearly says “A selection by 248am”. I try to get a variety in 🙂

Remove some contrast bcoz they dont post any more daily.
Suggestion:
7ajidude
Bintilkuwait
Babbleq8
Meenakon

The three blogs for example you mentioned barely have any topics related to Kuwait so they automatically don’t fit the main criteria of a “Kuwait Blogs” app.

Hey Mark!

I’m sorry to disagree but what you just said is not right.
Our blog and the 2 mentioned PLUS 7ajidude cant be considered NON kuwaiti! we do post about events, reviews, news, and any concers around kuwait, as alot of people are doing the same thing too.
The app is great, i use it myself too, and my comments isnot about including our blog or not, its about clearning something out, and i hope you got the point.

Hey Moody, I never said they don’t post about Kuwait or are non Kuwaiti, I said the majority of posts aren’t Kuwait related which is why they don’t fit.

btw, I wish I could add an unlimited supply of blogs to the app but i am really limited by the amount of bandwidth I can have the app use before apple rejects my app. I actually thought my last update would get rejected because I had 21 blogs listed.

I have to be picky and I have to personally like a blog or think its interesting so that it goes in. I also try my best to have a diverse amount of blogs in the app so that the few that are there get to cover a wide range of topics. For now I have one blog that I want to put in and thats Kuwait Music, that blog will be replacing my 248PM blog. I might replace 4th ring road or uptill1 with danderma since 4th ring road isn’t getting updated anymore while uptill1’s posts mostly have become generic non kuwait related.

Dear Mark,

I want to thank you very much for this app & 248am app which I read both every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to sleep. I wish that you can create an iPad version 🙂 I’m sure that are a lot of people who want that 🙂

Thank you once again for the apps !!

Hi Mark, great effort here, keep up the good work. However the app keeps crashing on my iPhone4. I have removed and reinstalled the app, but the problem continues. I am looking forward to your update. For the time being, I have been accessing your site via my iPad. Here is where a nice app would come handy. Yes I did create a short cut, but it would be pretty cool to have an iPad app too, or one that works on both (HD).

Cheers!

thanks mark for puttin in the effort to update… this way the app and the time we spend with it is more useful… thanks bro…

I’d love an iPad version as well, and would reaaaaallly love to be included. As for other blogs, I think The Grapevine would make sense as they update regularly and it is only about events coming up in Kuwait.

Hey Mark. Give our blog a look and let us know what you think. Whether you decide to put it up on the app or not, we’d like to know what you think of the blog since we understand you are the king of blog in Kuwait. We also love your blog and constantly check it out so we were hoping for some feedback on how we could make our blog better.

I’d recommend people read the disclaimer page or the disclaimer on the left hand side of the home page before reading the blog. It’s an blog mainly for entertainment and sharing experience/advice. Not a blog based on fact and guarantees.

Thanks alot Mark! All readers are also welcome to take a look and send us some feedback.

Thanks a bunch to you all! 🙂

Is this guy trying to seem like he posted his blog without intending to? Because it’s not working.

I’m embarrassed for him.

Actually, I said Grapevine earlier, but your blog also deserves a spot.

As for many of the requests above, there’s nothing wrong with having a blog that reposts things I could find on Reddit or Digg over and over again, but I for one would rather have an app that gives me access to local, repeat, LOCAL, news and videos from bloggers that are original and relevant.

I already have the Reddit app installed; just saying.

The only problem with eB6ainiya is similar to the one of kuweat and that is the food reviews are too far apart although i totally understand that. I will keep it in mind depending on how many blogs i will end up removing and how many i will be adding.

I’m also going to try and set up the app so I could remove and add blogs in the future without needing to submit a new app update every time.

Did you like Q8RedFlag.com? it’s Kuwaiti related mostly. I have the Kuwait Blogs App on my iPhone I hope I can access it through the App.

Let the kissing ass begin! I bet most comments are fake from blogs

I don’t care who you choose but please make an ipad HD version.

I checked on Push, should be easy to implement only thing is i have to do it via a company that provides the push service. meaning they sound out the push notifications and i have to buy them in bulk like i have to buy 100,000 notifications or whatever. might end up costing a lot will see.

Regarding the iPad version I think I am going to consider it, will check and see how difficult it is to work on.

push service will eventually be turned off.. 21 blogs.. and if a blog is updated 3 times a day.. thats over 60 notifications!!

no need.

What does the blogger being Kuwaiti have to do in all of this? I thought this is a bout quality blog posts, and listing blogs that generate interest.
Users are more interested in what you have to say, not what passport you hold.

I think what Mark is looking for is a few links to interesting blogs that he may not know about. It’s his choice at the end of the day and I agree, the App is a Kuwaiti Blogs app and 80% should be kuwait related.

And as for Moody Panties – I just checked out your blog as I’d never heard of it and wanted to see what it was about… your whole front page seems ‘personal’ about being in a bad mood and songs you like etc..etc.. so Mark IS correct, the majority of your blog isn’t kuwaiti related and as this is a kuwaiti blogs app-it should be.

Good Luck with the App Update, hope you find something special!

btw mark, I have an issue in my app, when I want to change the blogs on the bottom bar, I can only see 20 blogs on the edit page to choose from, and I can’t scroll to see the 21st blog -which is his&hers- Can this be fixed?

anyone else who not of done what you are doing, which is joining forces with other blogs.
great job and best of luck

i just checked out kuwait music site which you mentioned earlier.. its a very good choice as the site seems to give a very creative spin on music and the music community in kuwait..

nice one mark

Glad you’re updating it, looking forward to a fresh selection because honestly most blogs are posting about the same events, same cakes, same menus, same Avenue’s openings etc… they are becoming really redundant. My blog isn’t very Kuwait related, though I do post links to places in Kuwait that might sell the products I come by. I sometimes focus on interesting venues designed in Kuwait or Lebanon and others worldwide in addition to the latest design products which are good for locals to know about first hand with details and an educational approach. I also have a few posts lined up for Kuwait based interior designers , but to be honest they are very few. I am glad you are considering an iPad version, it would make things easier for us. Your efforts are amazing, thank you for what you are doing for readers and bloggers alike.
