I just got a phone call from my Mercedes contact asking me nicely if I could remove my negative review of the car so I complied. I didn’t have to remove the review, I did it out of courtesy because I didn’t want to cause the person any problems. Just wanted everyone to know why that post disappeared.

Then what’s the point of companies giving out equipment for review. If they expect to only receive GOOD comments then it devalues the point of providing them to the “ordinary” man to review. We might as well only read the advertising ‘blurb’ that corporations provide and not be surprised when the actuality doesn’t match our expectations…
I totally agree. I told him that you gave me the lowest spec’d model with a tiny engine so no way he could have expected me to fall in love with it.
Companies are afraid to get negative reviews thats natural, but then give me a car that will be hard for me not to like. Most of the previous car reviews I have written they were all positive because I really enjoyed driving those cars. How could I not love the 0-100 in 5.1 seconds of the G35 or the practicality of the SLK?
Just out of curiosity, would you still be interested in purchasing a Mercedes after you were asked to remove the review?
lol its hard not to want a Mercedes G55
I wish BMW agent will be car about there image same way as Mercedes people…:)
I belive that at your next visit they will tell you….
“Sir we need to change the Engine and the back light to fix the over heating problem”
Dude, you should not have complied with this request. Its not like the person who asked you to take it down was the lead design engineer!
that was wrong removing the review.. they gave you a car to see what you think.. and tell ppl about it.. and thats what you did.. in my opinion keep the review and they will probably give u a higher spec’d car to improve that series’ image. what were they expecting, a low spec car will gather more negative reviews, thats natural. i never thought u would be influenced by someone to remove the post. no harm should come to the guy because he has nothing to do with the car’s design.. i am very dissapointed to say the least.
He isn’t the car’s designer but he is an employee with a job. As I said, I wasn’t forced to remove the review, I did it out of courtesy.
was there any fear of a sponsership loss to mark248am1.wpenginepowered.com??? it seems that they gave you the car just to advertise it not to review it…just curious…did infiniti call you and ask to remove your less than positive M45 review???
why would that person get into trouble? That was a test drive, it has nothign to do with him. I think you should have kept it, but that’s my opinion of course.
Meshoo they aren’t sponsors on the blog so its not a question about losing sponsorship. Infiniti didn’t call me to remove my less than positive M45 review but if you notice they never called me back to test drive the FX35.
Enigma from the conversation I had on the phone with the guy it felt like he would get in trouble from his superiors because of my negative review. Since the guy is a nice guy and has been nice to me from the start I decided to remove the review. Its really not worth getting the guy in trouble over. If the guy was a jerk I would have kept the review since I really have nothing to lose by keeping it.
Anyway the review is just off the main page but I didn’t remove it from the review section.
Hmm..that’s wierd. I didn’t quite take it as a negative review. No one was expecting a 2.0L engine to make 0-100 in under 5 seconds and you said it as it was. You also mentioned the positive aspects. Anyone could guess that a bigger engine would definitely improve performance, however, from their perspective it was unwise to give you the lowest spec car.
I thought it was going to be bad, since you were given the old model, its a comfortable car but it needed the upgrade! I like the new E-Class especially the E-55 but I would never get the old model or a low spec mercedes since that vehicle is pretty heavy.
Marzouq the car is a 2007 model with just 700km on the dial.
Not removing it means no more free rides in fancy cars for Mark.
Courtesy my buttocks.
Love you, Mark! :$
Biohazard I am not expecting Mercedes to give me another car to test drive.
Hmm,, in that case yr right it’s not worth letting the guy be screwed 7aram
hmmmmm……not sure you really explained HOW ur contact in mercedes was going to get in trouble or why. Im sure they went through a proccess before giving you the car and when they didnt like the review you were asked to remove it. Its that simple. You should not have removed it and saying that you left it in the review section doesnt change the fact that you caved in. However, i sympathise because its a hard of fact of life that once you accept money for sponsors and ads everything changes….its like the difference between buying a chick dinner and taking her out on your private jet….u do expect something in return once she flies high! 🙂
ahlein do you have a difficult time grasping the english language? Mercedes are not sponsoring me nor do I make money off car reviews. Maybe he gave me the car to review without going through all the right channels or maybe there is a list of publishers he is allowed to give cars to and I am not on it. Whatever the case I decided to remove the review and it has nothing to do with caving in. Its just a fucking stupid review and its not worth getting a person in trouble over. Why don’t some people read previous comments before posting their own?
