I would have thought they would have fixed this by now. All I’m trying to do is submit a request to renew my Civil ID online and the Public Authority website doesn’t work until after 2PM. Unless there is someone that comes in at 2PM and sits inside the computer answering queries, this should not happen. The internet doesn’t take a coffee break.

just do it the bureaucratic way
kuwaiti internet does
lol. This is hilarious. Kuwait does it again.
Get the internet on speed dial and give it a call then you get “The device is switched off or is out of the coverage area, please try again later … beep beep beep beep …”
Did someone mention the infrastructure is bad … This just reflects it …
Actually this is common world wide when sites are under heavy traffic. Here in canada major phone companies do not work during the night time due to give servers a break and so that they can evenly process morning inquires and orders during the night and basically keep working 24/7.
I hope this helps.
Well two things here, first zain, viva and wataniya dont seem to have a problem running 24/7 and they get more traffic than the public authority website. Secondly i’m assuming in Canada when they do turn things off they do so when everyone is asleep and not during the day during ordinary working hours.
hmmm good points. Yes it’s usually after mid night.
Everything takes a break in Kuwait, including my car on the freeway..
I’m puzzled why you would think (hope) it would work?
There is nothing to be frustrated about. Just send an SMS to 1889988 with R space civil id number. You will get an acknowledgement message immediately and another one when the Civil Id is ready including the machine number. Good service.
Quite frustrating if you don’t want to send an SMS or go there physically yourself.
Both methods work fine but surely online should be easier than sending an SMS….that’s the point isn’t it?
that’s because during mornings, they are processing the applications “physically’ submitted in their office. the automated requests (phone, sms, online) gets processed after 2 pm.
Shouldn’t matter, there’s something called a queue but also when you email someone it doesn’t mean he has to read it right away, he can read it whenever he wants.
You shorten the queue when you’re under-staffed. I wouldn’t be surprized if this whole online service is being dealt with by couple employees only.
You can’t shorten the queue since it’s not like the people who wanted to renew their civil id decided they don’t need to anymore.
Scheduled downtime, system maintenance, system upgrade. We have bigger problems.
Mark in case you dont know.
Kuwaities can apply 24 hours online and on phone .
for expatriates 2pm to 12 am only.
you can verify this.
+1 for the discrimination <3
+1
Mark, I’m surprised that you don’t know that fact.
I know that fact but it’s not related here. It makes sense at a physical location where they are trying to reduce the crowd but this is the internet.
Why it’s not related?
What we are trying to say and make clear that the system is moderated to accept Kuwaiti Civil ID numbers 24 hrs and other Civil ID numbers after 2 PM.
This is the rule, so it’s physically set in the system like that and it won’t change because they want it like that, it’s not a glitch in the system or overload or anything else.
Did you even read the post or get it? I never said it was a glitch. My post was about how stupid it is that I have to submit a request to renew my civil ID ONLINE after 2PM when I should be able to do it anytime during the day because the internet isn’t an employee and doesn’t need to take a break. It’s not that complicated a post… I didn’t use any big words.
No, I got it quite clear but you didn’t get my post that clear.
I’m telling you again, and for the last time, that it’s not stupid thinking from them or anything else, they just want things to work like that (It’s mentioned few posts above).
I hope that you get it this time.
Thank you for letting us know the reason behind this after 2PM issue is because “they just want things to work like that”.
I don’t think anyone here realized that. Thanks again.
Or you can use the SMS service maybe?
HAHA I always did enjoy watching “The IT Crowd”
I’m surprised nobody’s given you the “If you don’t like it get out” treatment. After all, if you’ve been blessed to live in Kuwait, you’re not allowed to complain.
Nobody brought it up until you did?
Bravo! That is EXACTLY what I said. Thanks for paraphrasing my sentence. Want to paraphrase this one too?
Riiight. So they deliberately want to make it more difficult for expats? After 2pm has NOTHING to do with queues at all because applications can be queued if they are sent in at ANY time electronically. It is simply to make things difficult for expats.
Do I have the summary broadly correct?
Yup.. You never know, it might make an expat leave and that’s one less car on the road.
Mark, I just read your message here. In case you havent solved your problem yet, this happened to me. You have to go in person and submit the application because they are issuing new IDs and you might need some missing papers. Or try to call as well.
Good luck
