Decreases in Kuwait Coronavirus Cases

I’ve been checking Kuwait’s official COVID 19 website daily to monitor the number of Coronavirus cases that get published daily and just a few moments ago they published that there were 0 new cases to report. It had already been on a decline for the past few days and I really hope we continue at this pace. Also:

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus on Wednesday commended Kuwait’s response to the novel coronavirus, especially in view of transparency and reporting.

Speaking to KUNA, Ghebreyesus also lauded Kuwait’s close coordination with the WHO over the fight against the virus, known as COVID-19, pointing out the role of the organization’s regional office in this regard.

He said the Kuwaiti government has a long experience in controlling respiratory malfunctions, citing its response to the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) as a relevant unequivocal paradigm. Source

I really hope people don’t start thinking everything is OK now. I’ve noticed a lot more people out during the day and I’m worried this is gonna cause the number of cases to increase again or stricter rules being put in place. The local influencer Concept15 had a funny but serious bit on Snapchat the other day (video above) where he talks about how people are treating the situation like Ramadan, where you can do whatever you want before 5 and then after 5 you avoid Corona. We’re going to end up in a full 24-hour curfew at this rate. Stay at home people it’s not a vacation…

Update: They reupdated the website again and it now shows 13 new cases not 0 🙁

Kuwait just started bringing back Kuwaiti students that are studying abroad, so the number of cases will probably increase in the next couple of weeks.

Nope, first they’re bringing in any elderly abroad, then people with chronic disease, and then students

0 new cases to report just comes up as the day starts
They’ll actually update the number within half an hour or so

I was juts going to comment the same thing – they are bringing in the students starting today, and will be bringing them from various countries in the next days/weeks – so expect an uptick in cases, but hopefully, just the ones brought in and not person to person transmission here.

Locally yes, but the 60 thousand that are coming soon are a different story.
The planes that arrived yesterday:
5 from Lebanon
23 from Egypt
4 Bahrain
These were all tested on arrival with the new 10-15 minute kits, and diagnosed as “suspected” according to the newspaper.

from my understanding a lot of Kuwaitis can’t come into Kuwait right now because not enough quarantine space so the government is making them wait and as spaces clear up they’re bringing people in.

If you notice on the new cases announcement some of the cases are from contact with infected people inside Kuwait. How many other people did those people have contact with? In the USA there are reports of people becoming infected from their Uber driver and touching the same handrails as infected people. The virus can live for a while on door knobs and surfaces so be careful about what you touch.

Exactly! That’s my major concern right now.
Those who were infected by people tested positive. This means that they were walking around freedom carrying the virus and infecting others who infected even more people.
Not worried for my own health as much as I’m worried about transmitting the virus to people who aren’t as healthy as I am. Or worse! Creating a cluster!

Is there no drive by testing facility yet for COVID-19 @ Mishref Fair grounds on the lines of the South Korean model ?

Does anyone know if evacuated Kuwaitis (I think most are students at this point) are quarantined at home? I don’t trust people with this “home quarantine”.
1. They don’t take it seriously.
2. They merge with family (who go to work and infect others).
3. They aren’t taking necessary precautions.

Honestly, the ministry is literally doing everything in their power. It’s on US now. They did their job, now we need to do ours. Let’s be honest, not everyone has been following the home quarantine guidelines.

No they will not let them see their families or anyone, straight to MOH quarantine. They will all stay there upwards of 14 days depending on their diagnosis after 14 days.

The frustrating thing is, if u see the causes of these 13 cases from MOH social media accounts, you’ll see that only 5 are from people coming abroad. The 7 contracted it by contact with them (or others), be careful!

Honestly – you really can’t imagine any country being as on top of things as Kuwait are. I am literally in awe of the government, medics and people organising the response and I will always remember where I was at this moment of time…..

Back in the UK where I come from, BoJo brings out confusing conflicting announcements.

The idea of only bringing citizens back when there are quarantine spaces is super organised. Other countries can learn a lot. Someone needs to write an article about it internationally and highlight it.

+1 Other countries should take notes on what the country is doing and stop complaining #spreadpositivity #enoughnegativity

So, I’ve watched at least two dozen expensive cars with euro plates drive by my house on the last twenty minutes, thirty minutes after the curfew started.

And police trucks watch them drive by.

At what point does the curfew become non-optional? Or is just for expats?
