Looking to Volunteer?

LOYAC in cooperation with the Civil Defense is looking for volunteers who are interested in serving the country and strengthening the defense line in combating the Coronavirus. If you’re interested in volunteering then head over to the LOYAC website.

You need to be 21 and above to volunteer and there are limited spots so priority will be going to Kuwaiti Nationals.

Race & Nationality should have no place in such circumstances… We’re all humans! Haven’t we learned a thing!!???

I think they’re prioritizing Kuwaitis because they want Kuwaitis to serve their country. Kinda makes sense. I’d be worried if the notice existed on a paid job application.

Not sure if ure trolling or not, but we are living in Kuwait. If my own country does this I wont be offended.

they want kuwaities because statistically they havent mixed with other “infected” or suspected patients, mostly kuwaities dont live mahboula/jleeb etc

if it was a racist thing, they wouldnt EVEN consider volunteering cuz nationals are least infected as of now.

please dont be sensitive or seek political-correctness in “such circumstances”.

What I meant is very simple & I seek nothing from it! In times of hardships, ALL HUMANS who think that they can offer help should be allowed to for the sake of humanity!

When we went through Gulf War, non of the ads reflected that army members who should fight such a war be of GCC or Kuwaiti citizens. We had American, British, Egyptians, Kuwaitis, Syrians, GCC among countless other nations fight that war with us. So if we have the mental capacity to accept that in times of war we should accept that in times of peace! What we’re going through is still some sort of a biological war that is affects ALL regardless or race, citizenship, skin color, accent…etc.

Loyal is can’t keep the pre-pandemic & post-pandemic ads reflect the same message “Priority to Locals”. We should all rise above such rhetoric … Let’s prove that we will walk out of this experience with some valuable lessons learned!

The person who commented that s/he will be getting worried if it was a paid job, I really don’t know what to say! This is a recruiting ad for a job that no one can put a price on! You’re sacrificing your life to help other lives being saved!

Anon.. I am speechless! Please when you look at statistics you have to be able to do something that’s called “inference” & “Root cause” or “Patient Zero” and you will find ALOT of Kuwaitis there & more than any other citizens. The numbers skyrocket when we started to get Kuwaitis back to the country & these people are being cared for in isolation centers by people who live in Jleeb & Mahboula. Hope message has been delivered!

IT IS TIME TO STOP THINKING THAT WE’RE BETTER THAN OTHERS! You all run to the US & brag about other nations & how developed they are compared to us without asking yourself a very fundamental question “Why”. I will tell you “Why”, it is because they told people “Regardless of your background, faith or race, if you have something of value to add we will welcome it”, which by the way the same foundation we have in our own religion when it terms of equality & on which our own ancestors built what once was the fast growing more advanced civilization that history has ever seen.

Just chill.
Anywhere you go in the world, if the volunteer service is done with department of defense / intelligence agency they would pick only citizens.
You have no idea what your talking about and your talking about racism.
Put your social justice warrior taco down and think before you spew bullshit.

department of defense / intelligence agency they would pick only citizens? We’re talking about voluntary services here! It is also being referred to as “Public Service” & it says “Public” in case you haven’t notice! I am chilled & I think you’re the one who’s clueless!

OMG that taco reference is funny….but aren’t you appropriating Mexican cuisine. Why didn’t you use SJW shawarma instead?

“ social justice warrior taco ”??? Lol. More like shawk market cupcake! Look Mona , life is not fair, get used to it sweet pea. There are different lines at immigration for citizens and not and different prices for entrance to the Egyptian museum and Taj mahal for citizens and non, of non citizens want to volunteer so effing bad let them start a project. Gessss is EVERYTHING about social inequality????? Get a life

I’m not Kuwaiti, and I’m not saying kuwait is perfect. However, my home country prioritizes me over any other nationality. Whether it’s a job or volunteering. Most countries follow this strategy for various reasons. It’s not considered racism unless Kuwait is doing so, right?
I don’t see why people are upset that kuwait is asking their people to volunteer. Clearly, they’re asking for them to fulfill their duties and serve the country. Begging foreigners to volunteer is begging for a favor without return.
Kuwait is in no way perfect, but please name one perfect country.

Mona, you are trying to change people’s perspectives here and that is a losing cause. Kuwait has a very unique and toxic cocktail of entitled nationals (majority amongst citizens) , and their elite expat enablers (minority amongst expats). Like you correctly pointed out, they complain and complain how Kuwait is not like the western developed countries with better services and quality of life, but will not risk changing the status quo to make it better. They like their cheap labour. They like the free handouts from the government. Why would they risk it? Hell they won’t even understand why it is that you are outraged about this issue. They will be scratching their head and saying, why is she mad? Or will be sarcastic and patronising and call you names like a social warrior and ask you to put your taco down or some other crap. It’s just because they don’t get it. They are just ignorant. And it’s a futile endeavor. But thank you for taking your time anyway and trying. I will be getting hate for this. But bring it on haha. Also, no I won’t leave. It took me a while to understand, but I have opened my eyes and now I’m doing pretty good profiting from the ignorance. 😀

A.B I really really thought that we will all walkout of this changed! I was very disappointed at how narrow minded people are! From not understanding the nature of humanitarian missions to the power of equality in societies in such times! Anyway, I’m gonna still being hopeful these empty heads can’t represent the whole world and the proof is that where we’re today! Standing behind compared to other countries when we were once leaders! Again thanks to Palestinians then! Another expect group!

The efforts of the government to curb the social spread of Kuwait are highly commended. However, if the Government is in need of any assistance, then I am ready to join this land for voluntary work. In the UAE, with the permission of the government, our organization, the Kerala Muslim Cultural Center, contextually refers to this situation. We are ready on all levels if need be.

I also think sooner rather than later they will have no choice but to recruit expat volunteers to manage the millions of foreign workers in the country.

JFK’s words ring true here: ‘If we cannot help the many who are poor we cannot help the few who are rich.’
As long as the officials are clear in their mind about JFK’s wisdom on this, Kuwait is in a good place in its battle against Covid-19.

Does anyone have the numbers of infected by nationality?

Anon above says nationals are the least infected. In the news I find they only list numbers of other nationalities.

Not that it matters, the covid19 does not discriminate but I was under the impression that the bulk and at least the bulk of the first cases were Nationals returning from Iran and Europe.

I can’t find the numbers now, but yes the majority of cases are expats. The first cases were mostly Kuwaitis but those cases were well contained. Majority of cases these days are expats from lower socioeconomic status who live in crowded accommodation.

Edit:
Kuwaitis 287
Indians 634
Bangali 76
Egyptians 58
Pakistani 30
Philipino 16
Irani 13
Others 40

Will those who volunteer be assigned to get coffee stains out of couches of Kuwaiti’s in 5* quarantine?
