Undercover Cops Patrolling the Curfew

I was out on the balcony awhile ago during the curfew because there was a loud noise down the street. A large group of people were yelling Allahu Akbar (out their windows I’m guessing) so I took out my phone to try and record it when I noticed an undercover cop car coming down the street. I had seen three guys standing under their building so I knew things might get interesting and decided to record the cops. As expected they ended up spotting and then catching the guys.

They didn’t arrest them, they let them go but not sure if they gave them a warning or took their ID cards or something. It’s pretty cool to see my back streets being patrolled during the curfew and with unmarked vehicles which is pretty smart.

A friend of mine told me about his friends (Kuwaiti) still having gathering at their dwaniya and they were caught by the police. The police took all of their civil IDs and he doesn’t know what’s going to happen. I guess that’s easier than arresting everyone and filling up the jails unless the people have other issues.

No Hamad. It’s racist bigots like you who are the plague of this country and the reason why it’s such a backward place, where ignorants like you spew shit like this and society at large tolerate it.

So corona only spreads at night? These guys could have been standing there 4 hours earlier and it would be safe and legal. Enough stupidity.

You’re the stupid one if you can’t understand his point. I’m not a virologist, and maybe this covid is worse than ebola. But be consistent. You can’t have a huge amount of population going to work in morning, mingling and mixing, until 5pm. It makes ZERO sense. If this is super contagious then the lockdown they did in Hubei is the only solution. A half solution is not a solution, its entirely useless and unnecessary. Its like using a condom only after dark. Its like wearing a seatbelt only when driving south.

You think they can shock the system that hard here? people will get super pissy, and it would cause more harm then good.
They’ve been taken measures step by step because they want to avoid any major shocks to life.
Yes, nothing makes sense. Welcome to Kuwait.

Yes they could shock the system just as much as China over here. What are you going to do about it? The MOI is strong and constitutional rights can be overridden by special laws or by Amiri decree.

I don’t think the point is to completely illuminate infections at this stage. But to reduce them to a rate that the hospitals and medical staff capacity can handle. It’s a matter of risk management and reducing the risk of infection to a manageable state. They managed to dramatically reduce new over-the-border infections by shutting down all ports. Now, they are mostly dealing with local infections between people who mingled with infected people arriving from abroad.

If during this half-curfew the number of new infections are not considerably reduced, they will probably go to a complete lock-down. It is in your own word, “stupid”, to unnecessarily shutdown the country as the costs – even for Kuwait – is extremely high.

Hey Chips I’m not sure if you’re in Kuwait or not right now but the majority of the population here aren’t going to work they’re actually staying home. All the government offices are closed, majority of the bank branches, the schools etc. For those who are going to work the government has specific rules like how many people should be in the same room together and what the working hours should be.

The curfew comes into play to stop people from going out and mixing after hours. If you are infected and you go to work and infect your employees, it’s a limited environment and can be locked down. If you are infected but go to a public place in the evening where there are other random people, thats where the danger is. The curfew is to avoid that from happening, it’s not meant to stop the coronavirus from spreading, its to slow it down and limit the damage.

So again anybody who doesn’t see the benefit of a curfew is stupid, not the other way around buddy.

Who is not going to work? Come south to Mahboula where a lot of labour
workers are housed and you see business as usual. The curfew has congested traffic to pinpoint times for the mass buses shuttling the chattel back and forth to the work site. I imagine for this sector of society they go to work, return home just in time for lockdown curfew in their congested housing.

Even if a complete lockdown were in place, I have to imagine the unsung heroes that support the privileged existence some of us enjoy would continue to toil as normal ie sanitation workers, water distillation workers, oil industry workers.

Makes you think….like really how relevant is the work some of us do?

Mate it is probably you who is in a sheltered environment not knowing what is going on around in Kuwait. There are still considerable amount of people going into work. Not all government offices are closed MoH (apart from hospitals have work), certain branches of KFD & MoI are still working, most of the factories in the country are operating, construction sites are still open, automobile workshops are functioning and these are the type of people who have to physically go into work.

Just because you have the luxury to work from home doesn’t mean all other people have the same convenience. I’m not disputing the fact that there are people who don’t have to go into work but what you said regarding majority of the people don’t have to go into work!

Did I say nobody was working? Obviously people are still working, the country needs to run at the end of the day, you need electricity, water, food etc. But for most people it’s not business as usual with a lot of places closed, a lot of people working from home or not working at all. So instead of accusing me of living in a sheltered environment, I’d instead take my time to read people’s posts properly before applying judgment. Sheesh! It’s like some people here would rather get corona then spend a few hours at home, get a Netflix subscription or something. It’s for this exact reason we have a curfew, some people didn’t get the stay at home don’t go out warning we were given.

as A said you need to visit Mahbola and other locations, im working in construction site and we have about 3000 labors working and mixing, hundreds of engineers, supervisors, drafts men and clerks all working in crowded rooms and mingling.
in our project if one person just one is infected he can pass it to not less than 200 people.
yes a full curfew is harsh measure but imagine if the virus spreads between the labors in our project then they go home to Hasawi, Farwaniya, Mahbola Hawalli and they go to bakala to buy grocery before going to their over crowded apartments.
this is the scenario that you are facing.
i know of another major project that our company is involved in, they have shutdown the project, but for us the contractor dose not want to give paid holiday to all his staff. so lets take the risk

Except for the fact that no one really wears seat belts here🤷🏾‍♂️ I was literally questioned why do I wear “that” just last week… LOL

Without an iota of doubt kuwait is doing a great job. Considering the rate at which the crisis is being managed to prevent an imploding numbers of affected individuals. Having said that, please boredom is killing me. Can the admin here create a anonymous chat group on this site we could atleast while away the moment and make new friends

if you watch the videos on the MOI instagram all the undercover cop cars drive around with the hidden flashers on. It’s so people in the neighborhoods see them roaming around. it’s a tactic.

The reason why I’m skeptical is because I’ve seen many hooligans installing very similar interior strobes to imitate cops and get through traffic faster. In other countries a true undercover car would have lights in the headliner and bumper. Also 4 people in the car…? Plus there was no PA system, or they would have used it.

hahaha @mark good one the “get a netflix subscription” bit 😀

A lot of people seem to be a little ill-informed about this whole process & seem to be enjoying ridiculing rather than understanding these measures.

1. This is global.
2. The focus here is mostly on travelers where Kuwait is concerned & AVOIDING “Community Spread”.
3. Yes offices are still open. Private companies are functioning. But notice the public buses are closed & leisure activities as well. Not everybody is being carpooled or transported by private buses. This has definitely had an impact.
4. Curfew during evenings was imposed because the lockdown implemented earlier wasn’t being adhered to. People were still gathering to meet outside after work & shops in local neighborhoods were still flouting rules and remaining open.

Consider what is going on in Iran, Italy, the US & Europe right now & being implemented in India from tomorrow onwards because of Community Spread.

Though I still think driving a full convoy of National Guard vehicles is a little overboard! But this is still serious & we are much safer here because of these measures.

A little bit of awareness goes a long way!

a lot of people complaining about the curfew here and how its executed
I’ve lived in Kuwait over the past 23 years and currently am in the uk
and trust me when I say this
I would rather be in Kuwait right now under curfew
stop taking it as a job
obey the law and save lives
don’t need to be genius to understand that

Its funny how the government stopped public transport yet private transport still plies our streets. These private transporter; small mini vans and coaster buses pick random people from all over the country and drop them to their place of work. Even taxis do the same. Same with those big white company buses bringing in laborers , cleaners and tea boys from all over the country to work shifts in some ministries. No one stopped to think that maybe these transporters were ferrying a possibly infected person around the country??

Mark you mentioned that if an infected worker were to be found in a private office rather than a public entity it could be contained because it would be easier to close down a private establishment and have all people in that establishment checked and quarantined. OK that is a given and you have a point. What about those workers coming in on those private transports and taxis??

Lets say one of those workers taking these private transports and taxis was infected?? Would they not in turn infect someone else working in another private establishment? And would they not in turn spread it to other private companies and work forces?? How would you be able to tell the authorities which random taxi roaming the streets you came in on ? How do you know that taxi driver isn’t infected and spreading it through out the country while earning his daily wage??

The Private sector for a long time has been getting away with breaking the rules and people like these private transporters and taxis are taking advantage of this to make hay while the sun shines; Making money of the inability of everyday workers to not be able to say no to their employers even though its against the law to be working in the private sector.

So in my humble opinion a partial curfew is idiotic in the sense I am allowed to possibly get infected during the day between 7 AM and 3 PM but stay safe after 5 PM

What you’re proposing is either a complete total lockdown or no lockdown basically. What the government is doing is something half way. The partial curfew is better than no curfew while a total curfew is too extreme right now. So you can think it’s idiotic but I’m glad you’re not in charge.

Lol I don’t want to be in charge either..frankly nothing but utmost respect to the authorities I think they are doing a good job so far…what I was asking is y no one thought of these transporters as possible ferry boats for Corona Mary’s or John’s??
