For the people who were doubting the project would be completed in 2 years, looks like you were wrong. I’m hopefully going to get a site tour of the Cultural Centre soon and once I do I should have more pictures and information on the status.

Mark, once you get the tour you will surprised how much work has been completed in the interior. We got a very quick tour when I joined the Madeenah tour of Shuweikh during Nuqat last November.
Next Challenge: Uncensored content.
If they really put an effort, this center could be busy every night of the year
That would be great, as opposed to a couple of who’s who events.
I’m impressed by this project, great architecture and quick execution. I wish other project here would follow the same path.
This is great! I cant wait for it. But sadly the abdullah al salem cultural center was pushed back to May next year :/ 7safa. It was supposed to finish alongside this project.
Please do me a favor and ask who is going to be running this place? Where the employees are from etc
Thank you
They’ve done a great job with Shaheed Park so I have no doubt they’ll do the same here.
Yes but who ? LOYAC? Or gov’t employees?
The devil in the details. those images shows the crap and the bad finish. The challenge is not in delivering a project, especially that there are no people reviewing it. The designer is the reviewer but different names. Fast delivery is a not an excuse for tasteless dish. If this project will be reviewed by proper architects, they will rip it apart. Especially that the some of the consultant pulled out their name from it for the bad execution.
Why,to the untrained eye the design looks neat and remarkable?!
The panels are not straight, the edge detail is crap, the colors are not matching, and i am not referring that the ones which are intentional.
Mark, the question about the workers and employees is very Valid, shaheed park was designed by an experienced Italian firm and detailed by italians as well. There is hardly any operation needed for shaheed park considering its a park which has just one shop, and the exhibition areas are run by another entity.
The cultural center is an Opera, Music Center, Library and conference center, it will need thousands of people to operate it, and curate the events. The building will be opened and great ceremony will be held, but it is far too soon to be operated.
Such projects need years to be designed and years to be executed. What happens is a typical “English” , Hit and Run”.
the edge detail is kind of disappointing.
Jey
This project was years in design and procurement. Yes “English” were and are involved, but it was designed and run by an Arabian firm, M&E American, Engineers French! None of them have a say in how quick it’s to be built!
So your comment – What happens is a typical “English” , Hit and Run” is just like other jealous clueless people out there that come up with such comments about the English.
Actually the reality is not like your expectation. The project will not be ready for implementation soon. Minimum it needs more than six monthes to be ready for public. Agreed with you that the project will be great once finished but till now the (temporary materials) that we used are not looking good at all. The quality for the project is very bad because of (time) but we have nothing to do it is the client desire.
Ummm the project is actually nearly done and will be officially opening in April.
I think you can agree with me now!!
Are they rushing you? and is it going to be perfect?
Hey all,
I worked on this project for a year, I was the responsible engineer of the titanium shell, and I gotta admit that this has been an incredible challenge. I am really happy it finally ended at the time.
