Four Seasons have published a press release a few days ago listing their new hotels that will be opening in 2016 and they had the below little tidbit on the Kuwait branch:
The first Four Seasons in Kuwait will be the 263-room Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya in the central business district. An Italian dining concept created around three wood-burning ovens as well as a pan-Asian restaurant – both with outdoor terraces on the penthouse level – will be among five food and beverage options. Interiors by Yabu Pushelberg will include a spectacular indoor pool in the beautifully designed spa and fitness complex.
I just checked out the portfolio of Yabu Pushelberg and based on his previous work, I’d say we’re going to be in for a treat. [Link]
Update: Hotel is now expected to open on February 15, 2017.

Kuwait city needs a face lift, we need more of these projects hotels and upcoming new museums we’re tired of malls and burgers
I was all over this news a few days ago; so glad that Alshaya didn’t go with Frank Nicholson like previously stated as his work looks like it would’ve been amazing in 2003 [see his work on the gut-to-the-bones renovation of the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo – yeesh]. Yabu Pushelberg has an incredible portfolio – they’ve done residential and hotel interiors around the world and they’re all amazing. Their work at Las Alcobas in Mexico City, the flagship Four Seasons in Toronto and the upcoming Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown in Lower Manhattan is of particular acclaim.
Can’t wait to see what the Kuwait hotel will be like – I drove by the buildings last night and saw a few lights on in the hotel tower and what appeared to be a fitted-out room. Renderings and images will no doubt be making their way online sooner than later…
Mid 2016, bring it on.
I just took a look at the Ritz Carlton Cairo website and you’re right but then most Ritz Carltons look like that. I’m just happy they didn’t demolish the iconic building that used to be Nile Hilton, as originally planned
