2aorganic

organic

2aorganic is a local website which claims to have the largest collection of organic products for sale in Kuwait. I didn’t count their products so I can’t really confirm that claim although by quickly flipping through the website I could tell they do have quite a large selection. So if you’re interested in organic products here is a link to their [Website]

On a side note not sure why they chose such an awkward name. How do you even pronounce 2aorganic?

Thanks Khaled

I have questions

1. How does growing something without pesticides or man made fertilisers by using natural fertilisers, which is essentially free if you have your own livestock, become more expensive than ordinary products?

2. How is frozen or canned food better than fresh produce?

1. Chemicals are way cheaper to produce in larger quantities in a shorter time period, while natural pesticides take time (you can’t force a cow to “poop” 24/7), as bacteria in the intestine are the reason for all those nutrients in natural pesticides.

2. Veggies and fruits in Kuwait aren’t all fresh, most are imported, so farmers must ship it before it’s fully ripe, so that it won’t get here rotten and old. This causes them to lack some of their nutrients, and as they stay on the shelves for days and after in your fridge, they will lose even more of their nutrients, while freezing them when they’re ready and ripe will be much more sustainable for the nutrients to be stored for a longer time, even in some cases better than those so called “fresh”.

You’re welcome.

Thank you.

More livestock more poop so that can work. I agree that there are some cost increases and reduced productivity of crops also can be a factor. However, I am sure they are asking such high prices just because they can and there are people willing to pay for it. My biggest annoyance is the fact that a 100 or so years ago all food was organic. Then we went all scientific and now we are using the same science to go back. If everybody agrees that organic is the way to go we should all stop producing ‘inorganic’ produce reduce the prices and just sell them as normal. By creating a high cost and exclusive item you are only trying to make more money not make the world eat healthy again

The frozen food problem is solved by having locally grown produce. Although it is difficult in Kuwait to produce locally there are farms that regularly supply local produce and meat. I don’t know if they are organic or not but their prices are reasonable. If they are organic that is the way to go. Having canned food or frozen food in my opinion exposes you to chemicals because in many cases freezing alone or sterilised canning alone does not extend preserved life. If the expiry date is longer than 6 months my general assumption is that quite a lot of preservatives are in there. For example the chilled vacuum sealed meat from New Zealand has just a 3 month shelf life.

Pretty disappointing really; their cooking oils section only has 1 item! Think I’ll stick to the Sultan Centre in Salmiyah (except on Saturdays when it becomes the 9th circle of hell).
