I heard about 5 Stripes from a friend of mine and I thought it was an interesting idea. 5 Stripes is a local creation and according to their website they’re the first company in the Middle East that allows you to custom mix your own cereal from a wide range of organic ingredients. They also have pre mixed cereals but whether you custom mix or go with a pre mix, they all come in cool long cylindrical containers.
You can custom mix your ingredients using their website and once you place an order you get a special code which you could use the next time you want to reorder the same mix. The idea is cool but the pricing is not.
The idea is stolen from a UK Dragon’s Den episode.
To steal would mean they would have to infringe on the intellectual property but opening a similar concept alone isn’t stealing. Thats like saying every burger joint is a copy of McDonalds. The idea of custom cereals isn’t new abroad it’s just new locally. Here are three links from google of the first three results when searching for custom cereal:

In terms of our pricing we are restricted by the quality of ingredients that we purchase. Our fruits are not traditionally dried, but Lyophilized (freeze dried) which is a process around 5 times more expensive than traditional drying. It is important for us to use Lyophilized fruits as they maintain the nutritional benefits of the fruit, which is lost in traditional drying.
Our other ingredients are purchased from suppliers with EU organic certification and therefore charge premium prices for their healthier products.
It is important to note that the 5STRIPES tube is 500-550g depending on the base you choose. That gives you approximately seven-eight 75g servings. A regular cereal box is usually 375-425g which gives you five-six 75g servings.

I didn’t order since the only kind of cereal I like are coco puffs, Trix, smacks, lucky charms and count chocula. If you let me mix all these together I’ll be your #1 customer 😉
