Alghanim Industries Takes Over Wendy’s in the Middle East

wendys

Alghanim Industries acquired the rights to develop Wendy’s restaurants across the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region from Alamar Foods, a Saudi-based company owned jointly by Al Jammaz Group and the Carlyle Group. The value of the deal remains undisclosed. Alghanim Industries has acquired all operational outlets in the UAE with plans to open additional stores across MENA over the next 10 years. Part of the expansion in the region includes opening stores in Alghanim Industries home market, Kuwait, which has among the highest consumption of fast food per capita in the MENA region. [Link]

It’s interesting that Alghanim are getting into the food industry, makes me wonder what they will be bringing next?

Great news. I always try to eat there a couple of times, if not more, whenever I’m in the US.

Their burgers are pretty tasty, for a fastfood chain. I personally prefer it over In-n-Out in California.

This makes me so happy.

I still remember the old Wendys that existed in Salmiya. Does anyone know who used to own that store, and why it closed down?

I’ve always wondered about that.

I saw a Wendy’s in an Abu Dhabi food court when I was there this weekend. I couldn’t resist the nostalgia and ate there. It was nasty. Didn’t finish my food.

Maybe they should add Windy’s shops in their department stores as well. This might increase customer’s engagement and stay in the store, similar to what IKEA is doing. Not sure if they will be allowed to do so in the areas where food might not be allowed to be sold.

Good news as long as the food tastes the same. I’m getting ready for a bowl of chili and a frosty but will they have the 99cent menu?? I guess they would just change it to 990 fils like they do on most prices, keep the same price but pay in KD instead of dollars.

Well they have been in the food industry for a long time… Mais alghanim as a restaurant, then the FMCG like galaxy, kraft, maltesers, m&ms, doux chicken and way more…

Mais Al Ghanim restaurants are not owned by Alghanim Industries. They are owned by the Barakat Lebanese family. They were named Mais Al Ghanim because they first started out as a ‘Mess’ (cafeteria) for the Yousuf Al Ghanim company. Check out their story here: https://www.maisalghanim.com.

I dont get the point you are trying to make, Mais Alghanim is registered at the Ministry of Commerce under the name of Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim & Co, so what do you mean???
Then you will say that Wendy is not owned by Alghanim Industries as they acquired rights from another party…

Yes you are right. But I still believe that it is completely owned by the Barakat family. Guess will have to confirm this when I visit the restaurant next.

Mais Alghanim is not under Alghanim industries however my understanding is that Yusuf Ahmad Alghanim are their partners. It’s fully managed by the Barakat family.
