Chowking Now Open in Kuwait

chowking

Chowking the Philippine-based fast food chain opened up their first branch in Kuwait over the weekend. I passed by on Saturday evening just to check the place out and it was insanely packed with long lines and nowhere to sit. The menu consists mainly of fried chicken, dimsums and noodles (you can check it out here).

They opened their first branch in Salmiya near Johnny Rockets and Shake Shack where Dunkin Donuts used to be. That specific location is considered cursed due to the amount of places that have opened up and shut down over the years but I think Chowking has the potential to break the curse. Here is a link to their [Facebook Page]

This is one of the known fastfood chains in the phil, and i’m sad to say that they haven’t lived up to the standards that is given back in our home country.

I think they didn’t come prepared especially when most of the food was scrapped by the Kuwait Ministry of Food. Which got me thinking on whether to eat here or not. I’ve known the food standards here in the middle east to be very strict, thus if most of the menu wasn’t allowed by the Ministry only means one thing. IT IS INEVITABLY full of Chemicals which is not safe.

Just some insight my friends before you try out this branch.

Thanks

Considering that we, Filipinos love Chowking back home. I am very excited to visit this place too, but not this month, because I know many has the same plans like me. I wanted to avoid long que and crowded place. Perhaps next month is a good option. But looking at their menu and as per the experience of my friends in facebook, price is quite high and servings are in small quantity. But, knowing Pinoy, when it comes to food, most are very much willing to pay.

Damn, I miss Dunkin Donuts there, used to go there 3 days per week with my friends, it was cozy, comfortable and they offered the best ice coffee in Kuwait. Sad to see it closed 🙁
Curse you Chow king….

Tried it out. Ordered noodles, chicken (8 pcs), Dimsum, Tofu. Well they don’t provide plates to eat on. You have to ask for it.. Noodles was next, no chopsticks, forks or spoons provided, had to ask for it. Tissues are sparingly provide and is very small.
Food is meh..didn’t like it and expensive for the quantity. Not going there again!

Did not live up to expectations, the Philippine stores are waaaay better. It is also quite pricey compared to Jollibee, another fast food franchise from the Philippines owned by the same group. But food is better than Chinese restaurants in Kuwait (Jade Garden, etc). The best options are fried chicken, noodles soup, siopao.
