Deliveroo Launching Next Week!

Download the app and get ready because Deliveroo is planning to soft launch in Kuwait next week. Deliveroo is the British equivalent to Carriage and they operate in over two hundred cities including Dubai. Behind the scenes, Deliveroo has been offering restaurants super competitive rates trying to woo them away from Carriage. I also heard that for the first 6 to 12 months, Deliveroo will be offering customers free delivery to get them to stop using Carriage as well.

Carriage has already started fighting back, they launched their unlimited free deliveries service last week and probably have a few more tricks up their sleeve.

Let the food delivery wars commence, Who’s getting the sense of Viva’s entry to Kuwait’s market back in the 2008, the rates slashed and realized how abused we were.

Finally some good competition to improve consumer experiences (prices, waiting times, customer service). Carriage/ Talabat had a monopoly on the market for so long

Well technically they didn’t have a monopoly since other than the fact both competed with each other, you also had smaller players like Zitaat and Cravez.

Also a lot of restaurants deliver here and to a reasonable distance. Here in the UK I have a Pizza Hut (which delivers) 0.158 miles away and yet I am “outside the delivery area”, the restaurant may be close but at -3 degrees it’s difficult to walk 2 steps out.

Deliveroo is a british company. I’m in the Uk. You people love comparing Kuwait to the west a lot… plus, kayfi.

carriage and talabat are too greedy. they take 1 KD for delivery + 20-30% commission from restaurants. each year they keep increasing their fees

carriage takes 27% if your restaurant exclusive to their platform , and increased 1% with each competition you sign up with , which jacked up Kuwait’s restaurants prices , meanwhile deliveroo and amazon delivery service takes 10-15% commission .

I can’t share details due to NDA’s I’ve signed, but I can tell you that depending on your brand and the amount of business you can bring, the percentage Carriage would take could be a lot lower than 27%. For example, I highly doubt Elevation pay Carriage anything close to 27%.

Definetly switching to deliveroo regardless of the sevice they offer. Carriage Black is too little too late, they had the chance to introduce this ages ago but are too greedy.

Not to mention that the Carriage customer service has gone downhill the last 6 months. Never picking up the phone, live chat promise someone will call and never does, throwing all the blame on the restaurants….

nope nothing yet. Phase 1 should have been rolled out by now with Phase II coming in Feb 1. It’s why I think Carriage was so heavy on promotions this past weekend. No idea why its been pushed again.
