Good Food: Egypt

Four Seasons Burger

Food wise there were only two things that stuck out for me in Cairo. The first is the burger at the Four Seasons, the second is the spicy chicken fillet at McDonalds.

When I first had the burger at the Four Seasons tea lounge in Cairo (opposite the Zoo), it came with blue cheese which I thought overpowered the burger. So when I went to have it the second time I asked them to replace the blue cheese with cheddar and it made a world of difference. The burger turned out to be great and if I was to rate it I would probably give it anywhere between 3.5 and a 4 out of a 5. Highly recommended. (Burger picture above)

The spicy chicken fillet at McDonalds was another surprise. I don’t know why we don’t have it here in Kuwait but we should since we’re missing out on a great chicken sandwich. Unlike the McChicken, the spicy chicken fillet kinda looks like Burger King’s Chicken Royale but tastes like KFC’s chicken Zinger. So basically its the best of both worlds and honestly everything else I had in McDonalds in Cairo tasted terrible so the chicken fillet is the only way to go.

And that’s about it, there wasn’t anything else I had in Cairo that stuck out.

I stopped reading this post after the following line “Good Food: Egypt”

please don’t ever mention those two terms in one sentence, simply becuase there is no such thing as good food in Egypt.. they are contradictory.

If by good food you mean food that will not give you diarrhea within 3 hours of consuming it, then i guess you’re right, i can name one or two places. Everything else passes through your system and is out the other side before the taste even leaves your mouth.

oh yeah.. and the pyramids are waaaaaay overrated. much cooler on a postcard.

cheers!

everytime someone mentions egypt we have to find a comment about how egypt’s food sucks blah blah blah……., and everybody shares his food poisoning experience in egypt ,bottom line IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT GO THERE,or if you have to go for work or something bring your own healthy food or wuteva shit you eat ,otherwise STFU

You just didn’t go to the right places man. In Egypt, we live for food.
There’s Burger Joint which packs a mighty and tasty burger in soft square bread, choose your toppings. There’s Dido’s pasta which if you go to the small original Zamalek restaurant which only has like 6 tables, will serve you delicious, steamy hot carbonara or alfredo. There’s the Egyptian home food which is what you should have tried. I still can’t believe you came to Egypt and went straight for the burgers. WTF

We have molokheya (leafy vegetable stew and my fave dish in the world), have that with some white rice with sha3reya (thin noodles mixed in) and half a grilled chicken and your set.

There’s Bamia (okra stew) with mince meat and potatoes, lentil soup with onions and so much more…. Then there are the sweets. Konafa with mango’s or cream, Basbousa, Solimaneya… God the list is endless.. And you, go for McDonalds….

Honestly man, if you ever plan to visit again, give me a shout.

if you see the tourists how much they eat in Egypt you will know why they develop diarrhea,we all travel and see how they eat in their countries and how much they eat and drink in their holidays.
you have to select and control what you eat anywhere in the world.
no comment about Xabi mail his opinion about the pyramids is unique against the history so dose not deserve any comments as 7ussain mentioned Egypt will be more happy if you do not go if you can see and like the postal card enjoy and cheeers
