In-N-Out, does it live up to the hype?

inout

One of the first things I did when I was in LA earlier this month was pass by In-N-Out burger. I hadn’t had it before but I’d heard so much about it from people online and from friend. Everyone kept saying it was the best burger ever so I wanted to check it out for myself. Did it live up to the hype? Not really.

During the 3 weeks I was in LA I think I had In-N-Out 5 or 6 times. I tried it a bunch of ways until I found my perfect combo which was a 3×3 (3 patties x 3 cheese) with just grilled onions and their special sauce. It’s a pretty good burger and mostly because of their kick ass special sauce but no way the best burger ever. Quality wise its a step up from McDonalds but in line with other burger joints like Five Guys, Elevation and Shake Shack. I didn’t like their fries at all but their chocolate shake was really good and was around 500 calories which wasn’t too bad.

So basically, if we never get In-N-Out in Kuwait it’s fine, we’re not really missing out on much.

I agree! I did not have high expectations but was extremely underwhelmed when I finally tried In n Out. All hype and nostalgia (for west coast Americans) if you ask me.

I live in Kuwait for 3 years and I live in So California. In terms of price and quality you can’t beat In N Out. A Double Double, Fries and a medium drink is just under 7 dollars(about 2 KD). I went to a Shake Shack at Avenues in 2013 and I paid almost 3 KD for a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. In N Out tasted better. Also, In N Out’s burger patties are never frozen, their buns have a spongy texture which I like and their fries are simply a potato which is sliced and then fried. But of course I am biased because I grew up on In N Out. Did you fly Emirates to LAX?

Well if In-N-Out opens up in Kuwait they’d face the same issues since they would have to import everything.

I flew British Airways, old 747 from here to London but then it’s a A380 to LAX from there.

Finally someone who hasn’t fallen for the hype!! It’s a good restaurant, nice but not amazing burgers.
But I do love their animal fries.

Holy moly! How do you know Burgerville homes? Where do you live? I had a Burgerville a mere five minute walk away from my house in Portland, Ore.

Burgerville is better than all these chains! Fresh, delicious seasonal, organic, delicious but also surprisingly enough, very American.

I had the honor and pleasure of going to school in the great city of Portlandia. So Burgerville was a primary fastfood staple.

I love In and Our …I am looking forward to hogging on them once i reach LA in August.

My parents are so against junk food but In and Out is the only burger joint they are willing to look the other way and eat those burgers like crazy .

I missed out again on trying I/O while back this month. They have several in in DFW area and Austin but I couldn’t turn down eating at local joints. Was in Vegas for 4 days and ate way better food on the strip than to try I/O. I guess I will attempt to try it again June next year.

100% agree with you Mark..
In & Out is an upgrade from McDonald’s , we are not missing anything special..
Some local burger joints here in Kuwait are even better than In & Out..

I disagree mark! you need to get some purple kush then have In n Out, make sure its animal style fried, animal style burger

In-N-Out is still better that fancy 3 KD burgers and the fries are better as well. They were the first to have a protein burger and have so many hidden items which makes it fun.

You have tried Tommy’s chili burger joint. Their burgers are topped with sloppy chili, mustard, cheese and onions.

Everyone has their preferred restaurants, in the end a burger is just…..a burger.
