Japanese Cheesecakes

Not sure why, but it looks like the latest dessert trend in Kuwait is Japanese cheesecakes. I’m a fan of Japanese cheesecakes and if you like them as well, here are my favorite three places to get cheesecakes from:

The Cheezery
I’ve been getting Japanese cheesecakes from them for over a year now and they’re really good and the sizes of the cakes are fairly large so perfect for gatherings. They also have a location in Sharq for pick up across the street from Arraya.

Medium: KD14
Large: KD16

Here is their location on [Google Maps] and they’re on Carriage [Here].

Kotton
This is a new place that opened up recently and other than the fact their cakes are really good, they also come in a variety of sizes including mini ones. Their packaging is great and their cakes are the densest of the three here. They also opened up their physical location last week and you can pass by and have a mini cake with coffee if you don’t want it delivered.

Mini Cake (3pcs): KD4.5
Medium Cake: KD9
Large Cake: KD16

This is their location on [Google Maps] and they’re on Carriage [Here]

Japan Bakery
Finally, Japan Bakery is the most recent place I tried. Their cakes look the cutest and are fluffy but also are less cheesy tasting than the other two. They sell their cheesecakes on Carriage under the brand “Makers” which is a place that carries a bunch of different smaller locally created dessert brands. You can also pick up a cake from Hamra since there is a Makers kiosk there.

Medium Cake: KD8.5

Available in Hamra Tower or on Carriage [Here]

If you have another favorite place let me know in the comments below.

Mark, which one has the most jiggle to it? I’m serious.

The main appeal is those videos showing how they swag back and forth like jelly so I want the full experience lmao

Mark! Dude, you’re a star! I LOVE Japanese Cheesecakes! I had the one from Cheezery a year ago, but then I forgot my password (had to start a new account and everything) and could never figure out where it was from. I’ve tried a couple of Japanese Cheesecakes since then but they were all duds. Art Cake was hands down the worst.

Coincidentally, a friend of mine brought over a Japanese Cheesecake from Japan Bakery just last week! I distinctly remember, because I thought the little cloud was so adorable! Also, just like you said, it DID have a slightly cheesier taste (which was pretty yummy)! I threw the box away, but was craving that specific cake recently and didn’t wanna’ ask him about the name of the place (because I don’t wanna’ seem uncool in front of my friend, ok? judge me, I don’t care) so this post is really helpful!

As for Kotton, I’ve never tried it before, but the Mini sizes sounds like a stupidly simple yet genius idea! It’s perfect for those times when you want to get your cake on, but don’t wanna’ get something that’s big enough to feed the entire block (‘cuz calories and stuff). Also, because I’d usually be stuck running around forcing people to shove cake down their throats and some people just won’t be into it (freaks, I mean who DOESN’T like a good Japanese Cheesecake?) so in those instances, a mini would be perfect!

As for the person who was asking about the jiggle factor, these don’t jiggle (I tried with the first one I got and have been trying with every other Japanese Cheesecake since). However, what they lack in jiggle factor, they make up for in taste!

Lastly, I don’t believe this is a recent trend, because it’s kinda’ been a thing in Kuwait for a minute now. Anyways, cute and very helpful post (my stomach thanks you)!

And then there’s the other inexplicable dessert fad… The San Sebastian Cake

I have no idea what it is. Perhaps some research and a post?

Oooh, looks like a cross between creme brule and cheesecake. Noice! I’d be down for that.

Then, we wonder why Arabs start dropping dead past 50.

Anyways, are you by any chance the Zaydoun that goes to music festivals and holds up the Kuwaiti Flag? Back in the day, when there were only a few of us, I remember a blog run by someone also called Zaydoun (not being a creeper, I just remember all the old-school bloggers, cuz like I said, we were barely a handful).

Oh, ok. So he IS the same person I had in mind. Always wondered, but never thought to ask. Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know and knowing is half the battle, yo Joe!

After reading this post, I ordered the 3pc Mini Cake from Kotton the same day. They were tiny and tasted meh. The next day, I ordered the 6pc Mini Cake to split with my friend who was gonna’ take hers home with her, but received the Medium Cake instead and it didn’t taste that great either. Kotton didn’t appeal to me nor my friend, but to each their own. From now on, ‘imma stick with Cheezery and Japan Bakery instead.

Is it just me or is that the Kingsman symbol on the first cheesecake pic ?

I am big Cheesecake fan myself However, never actually tried a”Japanese Cheesecake”.

I will tonight though, we an office party and everyone is bringing something to the table. So I will stop by the Cheezery in Sharq and pick up the large one and and see whats up with all the noise generated around them. 😉
