I ended up finding a Magnolia Bakery branch that didn’t have a long line outside and so decided to try it. I have no idea what all the fuss is about since everything I tried turned out to be average. I ordered some chocolate chip cookies, a chocolate cake and some cupcakes and they turned out to be extremely sweet and very average tasting. We’ve got better dessert in Kuwait.

Mark, your review about desserts and hotdogs are just average on your taste except the burger from Five Guys Burger… man, you miss Kuwait alot! 🙂
Mark, you should have tried Magnolia’s Banana Pudding. The cupcakes are overrated. if you get a chance to pass by again, i recommend that you try it. Believe me it will be worth it 😉
Most desserts in the US are terrible. They just think it’s good because they haven’t tasted ours 🙂

I totally agree–some of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to were in Kuwait!
They opened one in Dubai and it’s just as bad!
go to the one down bleecker street, that’s the original one and the cupcakes there are much better than the ones down Rockfeller Center.
Mark you should try Georgetown Cupcakes in Washington, D.C. They overnight their cupcakes to ur location in the states. Bar none the best cupcakes in the states.

For a country so obsessed with sugar (and, on a related note, being overweight), I wish the U.S. had better taste in desserts.
It’s funny how people think that because a bakery is IN New York, and it has a hint of popularity to it, that we locals are fans.
Sorry to burst your bubble people, but we (proud and true) New Yorkers may have tried the likes of Magnolia and Buttercup and yes, they were “ok” when they first opened, but today, they’re nothing more than touristy bakeries made famous by shows like Sex in the City. The only time you’ll find me (or any sweet-toothed New Yorker) anywhere near either of these places is when I have a relative in town who is adament about trying one of these cupcakes first hand. (That experience always ends in the same manner . . . the tourist relative is disappointed and I end up either taking them out for some REAL dessert or take them home where I whip up one of MY confections that blow Magnolia out of the water).
OMG cant believe u think this is average! plz try the banana pudding and whoppie cookie and then put up a new post about magnolia’s bakery… u’ll see the difference!
