The rumors are true, the popular Thai food restaurant Pataya Beach is for sale. Turns out the shop owner no longer wants to rent out the space to Pataya and instead is looking to sell the spot. So Pataya Beach will remain open until the location is sold. There is no closing date, if the shop gets sold tomorrow then Pataya closes tomorrow, if the shop gets sold in two months then thats when they will close down. I asked them if they would be moving to another location once the shop gets sold but it seems that they don’t want to and instead will leave Kuwait once the shop gets sold and they close down.
A lot of people consider Pataya the best Thai food restaurant in Kuwait (I personally don’t) and so it would be sad if they closed down. I asked them if they would be interested in selling the business, to have someone take over the brand if they wanted to leave and they seemed open to the idea. In any case, if you’ve never tried Pataya Beach then you probably should before they close down for good. They’re located on the mezzanine floor of Al-Dawliyah Complex (behind the old Kuwait Airways building). Here is a link to their building on [Google Maps]

Oh no!!! This makes me sad. Ive been going there for years, back when the old man would never let you dine if it was too late for him to cook (because he had to clean up for baladiya checks he would always say) I love them! They are great, not just in terms of taste but good value for money too. Of course you can’t compare them to a sabaidee or oriental cuisine or thai chow king. But I loved that it was quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle. One of the few restaurants I loved going alone with a book in tow, or with my sister. I hope someone buys the business so that they move to a new location and don’t have to shut shop. This reminds me of Bangkok Garden – if anybody remembers. They were the best IMO located right behind Hassan Optics in the city but went under for various reasons.
Oriental is the worst Thai food I have ever had. I would rather eat at Panda Express.

I have to agree. After hearing loads of hype I went there and was really disappointed. I ordered the standard dishes and it was very poor. Explosive diarrhea afterwards really didn’t help either(sorry for all those eating their breakfast while they read this)
I love their Tum Yam Sea food Soup.
Bummer. Great cheapo eato typo place if you’re looking for vaguely Thai spicy food.
