A reader sent me the picture above this morning and I didn’t think of it much since I hadn’t heard of Shakey’s before, but later during the day I drove by one here in L.A. so decided to google it now. Turns out Shakey’s was the first franchise pizza chain in the United States and now they’re opening up in Kuwait. Their first location will be in Salmiya, right on top of Five Guys.

Growing up in Portland, OR we did our soccer banquets there. They always supported youth sports. Great pizza, just hope will be the same here.
Well a couple of days ago , i read they will open in the UAE, because they want to target the Filipino crowd in there lol

Shakeys was famous writer’s Charles Bukowski’s favourite restaurant growing up in his early L.A years. Later on when he got richer he cut down on the Shakey’s and started dinning regularly at Musso & Frank Grill. I would suggest you hit up those places during your vacation if you’re a fan of his.
i tried it in tokyo last april, was one of the best pizza i had.
