When I was in Bangkok I got to try out the Thai version of Red Bull and I loved it. I am not a big fan of Red Bull but the one in Thailand just tasted wayyy better. Firstly their version isn’t carbonated or at least not the one I had. The Red Bull I had came in a cough medicine like bottle and was actually syrupy like medicine and it even tasted like cough medicine! The only strange thing I found was the fact that it had the Halal logo on the side which meant there was something from an animal inside the drink. Didn’t want to know what, didn’t care to ask. Supposedly there is a store in Kuwait that sells them and I am just trying to find out where so I can get a hold of some. Anybody know?

Thailand is the origin of Red Bull, an Austrian dude found out about the drink during a vacation in Thailand, went back home hired a good Adv\Marketing agency and created the Red Bull brand.
I remember back in the 80s we used to buy the drink from Philippino bakalas in Fahad El Salem St, and it was in the same bottle above with a photo of a bull on it, can’t recall the name.
Red bull already tastes like shit and a warm, stale and “halal” version of it sounds about 100x worse.

for the Redbull Its really Good actually and you can find it in the little store in front of muthana complex with all the Travel agents in them on the same side as the building with MEA in it (there is a thai airways office in the entrance of the center) and by the way its a reaaaaaaaally run down center and inside it on the left is a small shop that sells thai stuff, among them the red bull for 400 fils per bottle. its the same as the bottle above and the same sirupy yummyness and its a better mixer for those who want to do that.

Dont know the restaurant, the only thai restaurant i go to is Phucket Thai and its good! the Thom Yam kun is great and the deep fried chicken is to die for!! oh and while your at the Thai shop get a bottle of Chicken Sweet and Spicy sauce for all you chicken dipping.

In south east asia there’s an obsession with halal food & drink. In muslim & non-muslim countries alike. I’ve visited Malaysia, Singapore & Thailand, and they all had halal sign/stickers on food & drink products. It reminds me with the kosher sign on almost everything edible/drinkable in the states.

BTW they place halal labels on things that dont necessarily contain anything animal based, as it would be halal then anyway!
saw the same red bull bottles in pakistan and actually thought that it was a rip off of redbull, guess i was wrong.
Pattaya Thai is staffed by authentic Thais who just happen to be Filipinos.

the halal thing doesnt necessarly mean theres animal product in it most south east asian countries like thailand and malaysia will just put the halal thing on it for no reason
thats the original redbull, i used to drink it all the time in canada, the best mix which is not the healthiest mix is this original redbull with vodka… its just amazing
they need to sell these instead of the carbonated crappy ones

Well talkin bout thai food….i think the best i had eaten in kuwait was at ‘Bangkok Garden’..but they closed down. does any one know y or if they shifted elsewhere? Mark you should try oriental…you’ll definitely find taste there !…..with standard and quality. Their tom yam soup is the best as compared to the place in reggai, phuket,pattaya and mai thai as well.

The Taurine is usually synthetic these days though not many countries have laws requiring manufacturers to identify animal products (even halal/kosher marking is usually optional).
Synthetic Taurine is much cheaper to produce than the extract taken from bulls so energy drinks using it are usually vegan by coincidence.
Red Eye is an energy drink in Australia (really nice too) that advertises its use of synthetic Taurine in order to market to vegans.
RE your halal comment:
Carrots are halal. Just because it’s marked halal, doesn’t mean it contains animal products. It’s an indication that all of the ingredients in the products are from halal sources: i.e. non alcohol, vegetable, and if there are animal ingredients, from animals slaughtered in a permissible manner. It’s likely that this drink is Vegan and Vegetarian..
I dont know about phuket thai in Salmiya but the little thai restaurant behind starbucks & Seattles best in Mahboula has to be some of the best thai food I have ever had! So good.

Having “HALAL” logo doesnt mean its got animal product in it.
It actually means the contrary… that it doenst contain any sort of ingrediant thats considered non-Halal (Haram), for example- alcohol or pork.
Vegeterian dishes are considered HALAL. To have a “HALAL” log tells Muslim-consumers it safe to drink/eat. And there are many muslims in asia (the most actually), so the companies obviously want to tap into that market.
I began using the original Thai Red Bull in the mid 80’s on the advise of Laotian ex-patriots living in the US who fled the chaos of S.E. Asia of the 70’s—they swore by this stuff, and I agree…have used it ever since. It used to be that I could get it at any Asian Market(U.S.), however, with the popularity of the carbonated version and some litigation(have no details)it has become a rarity.
