5àsec Robbed

I met my friend for breakfast this morning and he told me the funniest story. Last night around 3:45AM he was having trouble sleeping when he heard glass shatter outside his apartment building in Shaab. He then heard more glass shattering so he got up and looked outside and saw some guys breaking into the 5àsec laundromat.

So he picked up the phone and called the cops who replied telling him they can’t do anything about it and that he needs to come down to the station to file a complaint. He was like f it and went back to bed.

What is wrong with the cops in kuwait? isnt there any kind of security for the people living in kuwait? many cases where some guys act as “CID” and rob you. recently a case has happened in salmiya area which resulted in a death of the vitim. is it become a dangerous place to live in??

At least they answered the phone, and replied……come on its not like the Fort Knox or something it’s just a laundry shop….. So go file the complaint … Simple

@We’d Pat: it is that simple, the cops in Kuwait need to teach the society discipline and act on these calls. Until they do, there is no hope.

So go file the complaint? Why should the bystander who witnesses an incident then have to go to a police station to file a complaint? He made the phone call….the cops need to get off their asses and follow up.

What if it was your home? it’s very simple, just go file a complain.. what are you worrying about?.. hopefully something will be done about it.. bukra…

Hey, you guys shouldn’t complain about this. Kuwait has the best police force on Earth.

Oh yeah, and why are you giving the cops a hard time? It’s bad enough that they HAVE to sit in the office and eat take out all day, in a pseudo-diwaniya. And god-forbid they actually have to do something for more than one hour a day… it’s like you have to beg them to do their jobs…

i think they are just good in chekking civil id, specially in ladies lol….
and they never incounter a police chase or in a gun fight hahahahahah

Police chases are horrible because it poses more risk to people when theres two or more people speeding instead of one. Guns being fired however is taken more seriously, Like the recent one in Mangaf where they had road blocks in the entire area for a couple of days. Not sure if they caught the guy or not though 🙂

My friend had his car window broken into to steal 1/2 KD. So its not the amount.

I think the cops might have misunderstood as its not a robbery in progress; but after the fact. In that case you have to file a report for the investigations to start.

LOL that happened to me as well … in myparking lot … they took all my 50 fils and 5 fils coins which was maybe 1 kd total, but they did leave me with a 5 KD window bill and 100 fils as compensation !

On Thursday there was a Robbery in Salmiya block 10 which went bad and left the guy dead…
the guys were in a Dodge charger.

On saturday i was with a few friends in block 10 when one black charger was taking rounds..
4 guys in it… one of the guys in the back seat had a pipe like thing and was whacking the poor pedestrians walking on the street.

On Monday night a red hummer posed as cops tried to rob a restaurant in Block 10 salmiya… they took the ID’s.. however when they asked for cash the workers knew something was wrong.. they didnt hand over the cash and retaliated.. the vehicle drove off.

the same black charger…im assuming with the guys in it whacked a few more pedestrians on Tuesday…

So that’s 4 incidents within a week that i know of… I’m gonna walk the streets with a stone in my hand… you whack me i’m gonna break your glass!!!

according to the guys i spoke to at the Indian restaurant.. they noted down the No.. even gave it to the cops.. but it turned out that the Number plate wasnt real.. i dont know how true is it.

BTW, few months back i had called 112 at 10pm for a small fire that took place in block 10.. they acted quick.. the fire was put off by 10:30..
but then they kept calling me till 1 in the night to enquire about the location!!!

My husband found an elderly gentleman roaming about Maidan Hawalli, all disoriented. He stopped to see if the man was alright, and the man just gave hubby his civil ID card. My hubby looked and saw that it said he lived in Hawalli. So he went to drive the man to the address on the ID (the man couldn’t talk – like he had had throat cancer or something like that, and he was really old). My husband couldn’t find the address, so he went to the Hawalli police station to ask for help in finding this man’s home (the man was in a bad shape). The police told him to go put the man back where he found him! In the mid-day sun, wandering about aimlessly and disoriented! My (Kuwaiti)husband argued with the police, who then took HIS civil ID and said they were going to check that he didn’t have a warrant out for HIM! WTF?! He is trying to help an old man and they are accusing HIM of something?! Finally, after arguing with many men, and finally getting a ‘head’ officer, they agreed to let the old man come into the police station and they would “see what they could do”. My husband took the man inside and helped him upstairs (the police just stood there and wouldn’t help the man) and then left – my hubby came home and told me all this and then said he was going to say prayers for the man, because he is afraid the police will just tell him to GO! and the man will be lost and disoriented still!

Im not surprised. Your news is sad & we all wish him the best of luck. I wouldnt trust the police with this guy at all but too late now.

Kuwait had a very low crime rate, but with the boost of population and all the expats (not pointing any fingers here) crime rate went up.

I think they’re referring to the fact that the stupid guys didn’t do their job, and not the robbery itself. 🙂

Well I’m not surprised. The American housing area has been taken over by crime and prostitutes walking the streets day and night. I just wrote a post on the most popular Chinese to order in Mahboula and it’s not food.

I bet if it was Dunkin Doughnut or Krispe Creme outlet being robbed instead of a Laundromat they have had an all cars alert to get there on time. No one fucks with chief’s Morning Custard and Jelly fix…

Chief without fix = Bad day for everyone.

BTW heard about the robbery/murder incident in Salmiya from an Indian work collegiate. Apparently a lot of that happening around Salmiya targeting Indians who are soft targets and the cops are not even bothered to investigate. Very sad state of affairs down there. Wont be surprised or blame them if the next incident will lead to the normally peaceful community going berserk and start rioting like the Egyptians did in Kuwait a couple of years ago.

My question: Since we all have very similar thoughts on how shitty the police force is (unless you know somebody in the police who goes ON AND ON about how amazing they are and other propaganda), then why can’t we affect change in this situation?

Is it that hopeless? We see the problem, but we can’t speak or do anything about it? Maybe we need a Kuwaitpolice website that shows their shittyness or something.

Intersting to see the Kuwaiti cops have still no idea how to act beyond incompetent arrogance.
As somebody who was unfortunate to see the advanced sense of loyalty of Kuwaiti cops on the 3rd of August 1990 -mainly in Al Khobar,waiting to get into Bahrain for a drink…and who also on the 5thSeptember, 1990 saw the inside of a Kuwaiti police station taken over by Iraqi’s ( uniforms on floor) It amazes me that kuwait, a place I still have a liking for, due to the kindness of Kuwaiti citezens, not withstanding the fact they had more serious problems than I did, still had the time to take into account others problems. has not yet got down to the undermining problems brought on by diselout , arrogant morons insulting those noble Kuwaiti’s I have met, by resorting to ‘wasta’ to cover up their piss poor behaivior.
Just remember, going on history, you are due a return visit by the Iraqi’s in 2019…and if you are like the individual I met in London in January 1991, who told me they emplyed dogs to deal with their problems, then I have several comments to that misguided gentleman:

The idiotic Kuwaiti who informed me that the Kuwaiti national anthem should be ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ should remember what happens when you really piss westerners off. You get the misguided Crusaders. I really don’t think that is a good alleyway to follow.
Connected arrogant Kuwaiti’s with a sense of entitlement to being above the law should look carefully at Oman. In Oman you need a VERY good connection for wasta to work, and even then it’s not 100% certain. If the current wasta-dependents are nt careful, history, in that you get invaded in ever shortening cycles, might find you in 2019 being ignored because of your piss poor behaviour. The 19th province? £ strikes and you’re history…

Im a Kuwaiti, and I have needed the assistance of law enforcement officers in the past on several occasions.

1.) My car was parked behind Anjari Complex in old salmiya. It was broken into, but nothing of value was stolen. Just some change and small notes.

I thought there may have been a chance that other robberies took place in the area recently, So I thought Id report it anyways, and did not want to contaminate the crime scene.

I walked from Old Salmiya to New Salmiya to the Police Station at noon. It was hot & humid. I was young and stupid, for believing that Kuwait had a working law enforcement model.

As I arrived at the police station, I was referred to the station chief (thabet). His only comment was to yell at me “Ya3nie staby asaweelak, yella ethlif” which translates into “What am I suppose to do about it? Get out!”

2.) A fight broke out in Jabriya at the Block 9 grocery store late at night. Called the cops to describe the situation. I was asked to leave my home and go to the Grocery Store to “investigate”. I explained to him, If I was going to investigate, then why am I wasting my time calling the cops, I might as well take care of the situation myself.

At 3am two cops rang my doorbell, they wanted to arrest me for “prank calling”. Because the scene was investigated and they could not find any evidence.

Keep in mind the Police Station is 3 minutes away or less “walking distance”. The officers showed up about 3 to 4 hours after I had called it in.

I told them… you show up 4 hours later, even though your 3 minutes away, and you expect people to wait for you to show up?

I dont know what came over me.. I just shut the door and locked it. They left.

3.) In Fintas I reported a sick individual walking into our compound on multiple occasions, and jerking off in the courtyard of our building. I was told that they cannot do anything, and that the best I could do was file a complaint at the police station.

4.) A man threw a rock at my vehicle on the highway. This time I decided to “File” a report. After visiting 6 different police stations (cause they pass you from on to the next) they told me Id have to go their interrogation center which is somewhere near medan hawali.

The point is, the car the guy was driving was a rental, and because of that, I was informed by the Interrogater that there was nothing they could, it would be my word against his, as I did not have witnesses. They would not even file it.

My neighbors make sure they are armed when they take a walk with their families. Its fairly obvious that were past the point of “the situation is deteriorating”.

We are entering the stage of “Ghetto Town” were things already are deteriorated beyond repair.

The cops dont care, the government doesnt care, and the people certainly dont care. This much is obvious.

Ever heard of Russian roulette? Well your living it.

The security situation has become such an issue these days that even local newspapers have started to criticize the MOI in their articles, calling for law enforcement reforms.

And we havent even gone into the number of law enforcement officers that are constantly breaking the laws themselves. And using their authority to victimize law abiding residents and citizens.

Or the teenage cops that are chasing and harassing married women on the roads.

I can only hope that soon, very soon, this will be corrected, and fast!

Someone mentioned crime happens all over the world. This is true, and I expect no different in Kuwait. That is not the problem.

The problem here is, the blatant “lack” of law enforcement. It seems that the cops are simply not interested and also not empowered to uphold the law in Kuwait. Many years of this has taken its toll, so now its simply a question of “Why bother?”

Great job on your points. All are valid & im sure very much true. Kuwait as a whole, along with the leaders & the police force are a joke here. Serious crimes occur all the time without the police giving a S*#T but they are always on time for parking tickets, worthless checkpoints, tint, stickers, etc. Let this country fall apart, run out of oil, USA military leaves then see what will happen.

Can something be done? It should. You’re Kuwaiti, I’m sure there’s much you can try to do. 🙂

Didnt Dubai do that? I believe they even naturalized them. From where Im standing seems to be working wonderfully!

It’s a little late but, just wanted to add that my mother who is in her 50s, was attacked here in a building elevator by a drunk Saudi, (he attempted to hug/grope her.) after pushing him off and threatening to stab him in the eyeball with her car keys, she left the elevator, called the cops, while the guy stumbled around the parking lot.
Cops said they would come but never showed up she waited for 3 hours, and continued to call them but after the 4th phone call they stopped answering her calls. The building owner was called down and he asked her respectfully to let it go.

She gave up and went home.

The moral of the story?
Hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband because they’re raping every body out here.
