The SMS above was sent out awhile ago by the Ministry of Health to random people. Seriously.

Why is this a fail? I’ve seen a similar campaign in Canada about depression. Seems like a progressive and smart thing to do.

Not sure how you’re comparing this to a campaign about depression. The only message they’re delivering here is we think you’re crazy so call us.

I think the problem here is that you think mental health doesn’t include depression and whole myriad of other things a lot less severe than “crazy”. However, I do bet that the overwhelming majority of people in Kuwait think like you, so on second thought it was a stupid sms for them to send.

I do however believe that this wasn’t sent in error. They are sending a ‘message’ to those with depression, addiction, etc.. to seek their help.

I don’t think I’m crazy, depressed, or suffering from any of the qualities mentioned above.

you know mental health doesn’t mean CRAZY, it means depression, or ADD/ADHD, or any other stuff insecurity, low self-esteem, it is more of mental support, for crazy people they have different asylm, who knows! maybe you’ll see someone u think is normal but infact they are crazy..

like a fat girl and ugly using pictures of someone else and calling herself english name and she’s arabic.

these freaks should be hospitalized!

The way they’re going about it is wrong.

They could have at least provided a phone number or email.

When I hear MoH and “phone number” together I break out laughing …

Personal experience:
Call a hospital and you’ll get the automated operator which half the time bugs. Try talking to a human … Oh never mind they are on break all day, or they didn’t show up ..

Yup! I recieved one an hour ago! But i was suspicious as i was having a slight breakdown! Relieved to see it was sent to others! Paranoid.

You should get that paranoia checked out, I hear the MOH can help 🙂

So what is the procedure??? Poly clinic then specialized clinic tback to some other clinic then mental disease hospital.Not really worth it. Rather watch Dr. Phil

Hmmmm… I didn’t get one 😛 Even if people wanted help they might end up with a red card for life and that’s why mental people don’t seek treatment as it is a very taboo subject in these areas of the world. Private clinics charge up to 55 KD or more for 55 minutes which is a lot for people on a limited income. In the states we have EAP (Employment Assistance Program) which is company provided help if someone is having trouble. I would stay far away from any Ministry offers, who knows they might start using that as a way to deport people for being mentally unfit.

Yeah i received one too… i was like “are you kidding me? In my opinion it is insulting. Is this the way they market their campaign??

… this is not even a therapeutic statement to begin with to a mentally challenged individual..offering false reassurance and belittle-ling a person’s concern.. PR fail.

…saying “don’t worry” to an individual is a no-no if you are trying to cpmfort or help them…you are implying that there is no indication or cause for anxiety even though for him, the cause is real and present. In doing so you also misjudging the degree of the person’s discomfort. Just look up for non therapeutic communications to see what I meant.

Why would ANYONE be surprised unless you lived here for less than a year. There is a serious lack of communication all over the country. Events occur with little to no publicity and you only get to know about them by either word of mouth, being telepathic or you actually sponsored the event.

Being a ministry doesn’t make them any better at communication.

Why are you defending them? Unless you know the details behind this campaign or whatever it is I don’t see the point.

Who said I was defending. I pointed out the art and science of communication is bad every where.

LFMAO…. I got it too. The first response I had, was, ” Your Father is mental”….LOL!!! Yes indeed it is insulting but had a light moment too thinking about it….

Im dissapointed by the response Im seeing here. For once Kuwait is trying to work against a taboo: mental health.. by sending an informative message saying: hey… if you need us, were here.

i don’t see it as ‘fail’ and i don’t understand why you labeled it as such.

do you really expect to send it only to ‘identified’ individuals? don’t think so.

they are inviting/letting know the recipient, that if they have mental problems (or know somebody who has) that help is available.

besides, it is one requirement for the accreditation process which the MOH is currently undergoing on how they reach out to the stakeholders (community).

I did not recieve this SMS but I consider it a fail becuase no hotline is provided in the message

mental health issues cannot be solved thru a hotline. you have to be physically present (just like in ANY illness) to be properly assessed.

i’m sure that support groups will soon be established. THAT’s where the hotline will be applicable after being diagnosed.

spreading awareness ( and resolutions) for mental illness is a fail?

getting texts like this is a fail? yet no comments or fails on the endless random texts about songs, ptizes, cars, discounts, retail and so on?

walla mako ghairik inta il fail. until you learn to look beyond your arrogance and realize this is a means for the betterment of mental health issues in kuwait, you should practice a little, no A LOT, more sensitivity.

you have an opportunity to do so much with this blog, kindly use it or at the very least try not to discourage the plight of awareness.

The MOH knows..it can send out a message to Random people and still get the message through to a lot of crazy people.
