No shorts for you

Photo taken by Fajer at the Criminal Investigation Department. No idea what sort of treatment they offer at the CID but if you’re wearing shorts or “bremoda”(they mean bermudas obviously) you won’t get any.

To understand this you should use reverse engineering. This means type it in google translate and choose English-Arabic:
منع اية معاملة….

not new at all. people go to government buildings wearing like they’re going to the beach! nonsense.

It’s the summer for gods sake! I almost never wear jeans in the summer but I assure you I don’t look like I’m going to the beach every day.

I am sure they mean if you wear shorts or Bermudas and our there for some work your work wont be accepted. They have placed this new rule in almost all the ministries now. I have been through this and they ask you to go back change and then come back! hated it…

Well, sorry that my leg hair offended your delicate sensibilities your highness Mrs clerk with a ton of makeup.

so i have to suit up when entering a government building?? nonsense…

will i get deported if i wear “bremodas” ??

its been like this for ages in the ministry buildings.

you are not allowed into the police or military supermarket, forgot which one, but its on the 4th ring road… wouldn’t let me in cause I was wearing shorts (not bermoda)

well.. I guess dishdasha is always there right? more “air conditioning” than shorts or “bremodas” :p

This is what a communist socialist or police state is like.
In the military they dictate what is civilian attitre and you are not allowed to go to certain buildings wearing gym shorts and such in US bases. but in the civilian world, as free citizens no one should dictate what you are to confrom to and wear.
this is a tyranical totalitarian mentality that imposes value and cultre upon “free” citizens

Every government ministry in the world (including Europe) have some form of FORMAL dress code.

You’re going to work, not the beach. The ministry is a formal place. The Criminal Department investigators were dressing like a bunch of teenagers at the beach, this is unacceptable in every country. I’m glad that my government is enforcing a formal dress code at ministries.

And by the way, shorts are culturally acceptable in Kuwaiti society. You really don’t know anything about our culture.

its good idea to sell wezaar front of ministries…#good business
like before u enter Hindu temples in Bali

Such a rich country cannot afford to hire someone with a little bit of proper English! this is what happen when money grows on trees!

I’ve heard about not wearing shorts to government buildings from my father and family members. The reason is because if you are wearing shorts you cannot pray or if you pray it is “nullified,” because it is indecent to show that much skin as a Muslim and it is regarded as “dirty”, whether it be a man or woman wearing the shorts. Since the Kuwait government is Islamic based, you have to abide by Islamic rules.

This is what I’ve heard from multiple people so don’t take it as an official reason.

Lol what? No, the reason for not allowing government workers to enter GOVERNMENT ministries in shorts is formality. Every single ministry in the world has this form of dress code. Stop dressing like you’re going to the beach, you’re going to work! Have some respect and formality during work hours.

And the Kuwaiti government is not Islamic based, the government loathes Saudi Sharia law and the whole political crisis is due to fear of Islamists rising.

Similar sign posted at the Ministry of Higher Education in the Samabel tower. Except it only states shorts. It has been there for over 10 months.

I thought religion was for made for the individual.. did not know it was a statement to be made for the people “around” the individual…

I guess, skin tight black Abayas are fine – with the “alien” head gear – I don’t know if thats revealing or just plain weird!

Tomas – out
